More appropriately, the Apple guys don't/didn't care about Sounddiver. :)

Out of interest, I have installed the last OSX Sounddiver Beta on my MacBook
Pro running
Leopard and it's all working pretty well. I have been using Galaxy for years
on my OS9
machine for the occasional patch librarian stuff. Sounddiver seems quite
good, if a little over
complex at first. It's a real pity that Apple have suspended development on
this. I imagine the
Autolink feature would be of great use to many people. It's a pity.
functionality similar to
Opcodes system of OMS for MIDI setups Galaxy for Patch Libraries and Vision
for sequencing
used to work well. How is that in 1995 I had all my modules perfectly
described in Galaxy
and subscribed to Vision so all my hardware synths banks and names came up
correctly in
my seqeuncer without me having to type a single letter, and yet in 2008 in
Logic Pro 8 I still
have to type it all in manually, or copy and paste it from somewhere. Surely
Apple could
integrate some of Sounddiver into Logic to save us the hassle of this.
Sometimes the good
ideas die young, a la Avid/Digidesign AudioVision....
I'm sure Apple doesn't care. They're trying to make all hardware synths
obsolete so why would they want to support the past? After playing around
with Logic 8 for a while and initially being pretty impressed by the built
in softsynths, my opinion is still that the sound quality / presence /
warmth and immediate no-fuss playability of hardware synths still cannot be
duplicated by softsynths. Or at least not the ones built into Logic, though
they're interesting on their own.

Please help me I need the Roland VK-8m adaptation; I have SoundDiver
3.0.5.2 for Windows. Is it possible? Is the adaptation only availble in
SoundDiver 3.1 beta for Mac OSX? Is it compatible with SoundDiver for
Windows? Thanks!

you could pass the SD manual (ENGLISH VERSION) to me as well. I am
new to SD and I am having issues that would probably be easily
resolved or explained with a quick read of the manual. I am running
the latest public beta of SD for mac and none of the HELP features
actually display any info.
You can find the manual here: http://synth.stromeko.net/Downloads.html

is there any one out there willing to share the original mbox driver or the
usb asio audio driver ??
hello again is there anyone who has a mbox driver that will work with sonar
7 producer & will allow me to use multi processing engine 2 cpu`s
together
without locking up & crashing ?
Hi,
If you can't redownload the corrupt file, I think you can try an utility
called Advanced Zip Repair to repair your Zip file. It works rather well for
my corrupt Zip files. Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/azr/ It is
not free, but worth trying when necessary.

hello and thank you for that explanation!!!
now for the next step (for example the k2xxx.sit file)
after it is "unstuffed" it becomes k2xxx.lib
where can you read this file at, so to be able to import it into the
kurzweil???
thanks in advance

Its a Sound Diver library file. You open it in Sound Diver's library
then send it to the synth.

thank you for the response
unfortunately i wasn't very clear with my last post
i have the k2xxx.lib in the library section of sounddiver
but it looks like a list without any information behind it
983 items in black
since i don't have a manual or help files i'm really just guessing
as to how to get it to the k2000
it is connected to a PC thru midi in/out to usb and it is definitely
seen by sounddiver
i tried "send midi" under "files" and
"audition" no luck
when i look at other library sets they are in gold with other
"stuff"
in columns beside just a name
can someone help
also is there a way to make a disk for sounddiver my version 3 is
screaming that i have only 4 days left put in disk to reauthorize?
please help
as always thanks again!!!!!!!!

I posted the file Kxxx.lib to this group a year or so ago. I just
tried to load it back into my Kurzweil K2500RS without success. There
is probably something wrong with the file. I am sorry that I submitted
it to the Sound Diver User Group files section without first checking
that I could reload it back into my Kurzweil.

Please remove K2xxx.zip which is a non-working Kurzweil lib file. I
have posted all these sounds and more in the files section of the Yahoo
Group KurzSounds. The file is called K2500RS PRGMS- PATCH FARM. The
file contains 19 .KRZ format banks that you load onto floppy disks from
your PC. Then use the floppy disks to load the sounds to your Kurzweil
K2000 or Kurzweil K2500.

Hey,
Did you manage to find anything for the Yamaha P250?
I have one too, and can't find anything on the Internet - particularly a
patch library that can be used in Logic.
Cheers,
Stefan
Hi All,
Is this program still available for purchase? Only the windows
version available? I actually have both XP and Mac OS X machines. What
is the cost?
I'm interested in something that will edit Ensoniq SQ80, ESQ-M -
though I've toyed with picking up a used TX81Z.
Thanks,
Kevin

Nope.

You can buy the installer disk (Mac OS 9 and Windows) on eBay. Both
versions require the installer CD to authorize. Mac OS X version is
also available as a beta for Logic 5/6/7 users and requires the XSKey
(Logic dongle) to launch.
Best,
Andy
------------------------------------
You know - that is a very interesting option. I was actually thinking about
buying Logic anyway. If I bought Logic Studio 8 would I be able to run the
Mac OS X 3.1 beta of the SoundDiver Editor/Librarian.
Does the Mac OS X 3.1 Beta of Sound Diver require a serial number or dongle?
Will it work with the serial or Dongle provided by Logic Studio 8?

It requires an XSKey to be present. The XSkey was the copy protection
used by logic 5, 6 and 7
>Will it work with the serial or Dongle provided by Logic Studio 8?
The full version of logic 8 does not require an XSKey in order to run,
so one is not provided with Logic 8. The Logic 8 serial number will not
allow the Sounddiver 3.1 beta to run.

Darn, so I would have to buy and older copy of Logic to be able to get
Sound Diver to work? Hm... seems like this group will not get bigger
over time, eh? ;-)
What would be the easiest way for a new user to get a legal copy of
Sound Diver? I actually have both a PC and a Mac - so theoretically I
could use either one. My Mac is a bit newer/faster and has 4G of
memory so I was thinking about making that my main machine though...

I believe both Mac and PC versions are included on the install/authorising
CD, so you'd be looking for a single CD, second-hand (e.g. eBay). I bought a
second-hand SoundDiver CD some time ago and it didn't cost a fortune, around
GBP30 I think. As a long time user of SD, I wanted a second CD as a backup
for my original (you can't simply copy an original, using a disk image or
whatever - it won't work!)

Mark / Kevin,
I have the same problem with LOGIC EXPRESS 7 which does not have
an XSkey like PRO 7. I have no way of running SoundDiver without the
key (And keep watch on Ebay but don't see much).

Hi, I have Sounddiver V3 CD's (Mac and PC)and the manual, which I no
longer use. If this is any use to you then make me an offer. I'm UK
based. Good luck finding your stuff.
