For some reason in the the Mac OS X Beta, the icon for the Roland SH-32
module comes up as a Korg WaveStation SR. I can't seem to find a
graphics file within the SH-32 adaptation (in the SoundDiver.app
bundle) or any other source for instrument graphics, for that matter.
Does anyone know where I should be looking to find all of the PNG
graphics for the instrument icons?
Any help would be much appreciated.
hate to say this but I use the same adaptations and it all works for
me, but I do try and keep things simple. I have found that inbetween
opening and closing programs and things, some of my connected MIDI
gear crash.
The ESQ1 very often goes into MIDI overload when messing with Sound
Diver. The SD-1 seems to be OK but I usually disconnect the MIDI
feeds to my gear before opening/closing Sound Diver. I then access
each keyboard from the "setup" menu on startup manually.

Hi, I'm using Sounddiver in Windows XP with a Kurzweil K2661. A few
things, like Setups, don't work quite completely. Does anyone have a
solution for this? Thanks! Buddy
Hey all,, looking for an adaptation for the Pod XT Live. Still one of those
nerds on PC. Can anyone help?
thanks...
Hi, I have a Windows ME machine I'm in the midst of migrating to
Windows XP, I'll skip the story as to why finally...anyway, basically
I have 2 partitions, one for ME and one for XP, on the machine. I
(apparently foolishly) uninstalled SD from ME, with the authorization
disk in my floppy drive, but it never made reference to whether it
needed or updated that. I went over to XP, and installed my SD 2.1,
and when I went to run it, it didn't ask to even check the
authorization disk, it just comes up with a popup box with some
strange characters that I can't even replicate and under that "Result
Code = -1" with the options proceed/quit. If I proceed, I get
another popup just saying "Result Code = -1" and if I proceed
again,
I get the message SoundDiver has encountered a problem and needs to
close. etc. If I click for more info, it indicates:
AppName: sounddiver.exe AppVer 2.1.1.0 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00000000
A longer dump is available if anyone is interested.
Obviously, Apple doesn't support the old PC products. Any ideas? I
am running the program in Windows 95 compatibility mode, I should
note, and also tried Windows 98/ME compatibility mode. I realize it
may not run under XP at all...and I'm open to any other suggestions
as to how to leverage my old SD library of sounds going forward
(replacement programs for the PC, whatever). Thanks much.
Howdy Players,
I am running SD with Win XP and MOTU 128 midi express. I can get it
to work on all ports, but sometimes when I start SD and it does find
the devices on the multi-ports [i.e. because they are turned off], it
decides on its own to start kill each one in a no-choice diaglue box
[gives you a message but no option not to do what it wants to kill].
The next time I start SD and redo my setup [add each device back],
when I go to assign the port number it shuts down fatally. What to
do? What to do? Last time my only way to recover from this was to
uninstall and re-install all of SD.
Any survivors out there know how to escape from this nasty scenario?
Keep On Playin
Mookie
I'm on the hunt for a JP8080 ada that will work 100% with this synth. The
one that I do have is
the one supplied with the OSX beta, but as many may know it has serious
short comings. Its
unable to see the entire memory of a JP8080, including the patches on a
memory card, and
its biggest short fall is its unable to let you edit the JP8080 patches.
Does any have a new JP8080 SD ada that works 100%?
Hi, pardon my self-bump, but any ideas? Or any resources I can consult
beyond this group that you'd suggest? Thanks much.

Ok, sure, it can't edit the JP-8080 patches. But... perhaps you've
noticed that the JP-8080 has all sorts of sliders and knobs on it,
and that these are generally what one needs to edit the synth?
Why on earth would you want to edit patches in software instead of on
the JP itself? Just wondering.

Um, to have an overview of what an existing patch is made of...?
Even if you start a patch from scratch - in layer mode you have to
switch back an forth between both parts, und thus the physical slider
positions are always wrong.
IMHO, a visual representation is very useful even for synths with knobs.

darn shame you didn't upgrade to version 3 when you could. i've had to do a
couple of pc rebuilds recently, and sounddiver 3 has loaded and authorized
fine from cd. but the disc is non-duplicatable, so i can't offer you a
physical medium fix.
('d be willing to try out your triton rack environment - gimme gimme :-)
many thanks.

That disc is worth gold nowadays.

My JP8080 is in a rack which, because of tight space, has to be on the other
side of my
studio. As I dont have arms which are about 8 foot long and I dont want to
be getting up
and walking over the room every time I want to make a patch edit, using
Sounddiver to
edit the JP8080 patches is an ideal solution.

Tnx assi and groba
i finally managed to install a full 305 Sdiver on the ibook os 9.2.1
(i had the 3.0 CD !)
now next problem : aren't the LIB files platform compatible ?
i can not read any of my PC lib files in the MAC !
even if i try to stuff-them before moving
they always keep on the MAC a PC "personality"
any way to do it ? or not possible (argh !)
> Don't you dare to buy a notebook which runs windows now you've got a
mac! ;-)
i am 10 sec away from launching the ibook on Mars .. lol :-))
i could never ever understand this mac fascination !

They should be.

You probybly need to set Filetype/Creator. Somewhere should be a tool
that can copy this information from a library created on Mac to one
created on PC. Sorry, I've never had a Mac, so this is all from
hearsay.

Try this if you also have OSX on the iBook:
First make a safety copy of these lib files.
Now, select one of them and Get Info on the file - select the file,
then go up to the menu bar, to <File> menu and choose <Get Info>
Halfway down the info window, you'll see <Open with: > which has a
little triangle at the left. If necessary, click the triangle to
expand this section. There's a pop-up menu just below which probably
says <other> - click and hold on this. You should get a selection of
apps including SoundDiver - which you must choose. The icon of the
file should now change to the SoundDiver icon.
You should now be able to open the lib in SD. If this works, then
change all your files to this filetype. You can do it quickly by
clicking on the <Change All> button in the Get info window.
If you only have OS9, there is a small app called filetyper which you
can use to perform this same function.

I've always used Macs and could never see any attraction for PC's! ;-)
I think it's simply a case of liking what we are used to. (**NO**
intention of starting a platform war....)
Hope this helps

MidiQuest XL allows you to create your own templates, as they call
them. It's actually better than Sdiver in that respect. It's much
more flexible and the controls can be manipulated using built in
macros. The documentation isn't that great but you can email them for
advice and they will respond in a timely manner.

I've been subscribed to this newsgroup for quite a while now, and I feel
like it's time to
give up the dream that SoundDiver will ever be available for OS X with tech
support and
without needing an XS Key...
...so, does MIDI Quest (9 or XL) do the job if all I want to do is to be
able to, say, tweak my
Classic Keys or other random modules for performance purposes? Is it worth
the price?

Hello,
I´ve been searching for an adaptation for my Technics WSA1.
There is a adaptation in my SD but this is not finished.
Have anyone a file that works with all funktions of the WSA1?

Yet another SD OSX searching everywhere for it.
I'm currently assessing whether or not it's worth my time to try to create
an editor for the
Roland V-Bass.
Any helpful information gratefully received (including "it can't be
done" :D)
