Hi Tony,
I use SoundDiver with my PC, mainly to edit and archive my sounds for
my Rhodes Chroma, but I have used it with a Proteus 2000 and a Roland
XP-50 that I sadly no longer own.
I may help with some PC questions you may have.
Best wishes,
Paul

Hi Tony,
I am using a PC successfully with soundiver, in fact on Windows XP, with
emagic interfaces sounddiver works pretty well, which is perhaps one reason
why you don't see a lot of posts here. I also use it on my G4 running OS9,
but spend more time in PC land at present as I've just upgraded to a
AMD4800+ .
Cheers Caleb
THANK YOU FOR QUICK RESPONCE.
AS I MENTIONED IN MY EMAIL, THE PROGREAM HAS NOT GOT HERE YET.
I SHOULD BE GETTING IT ON 9/25 OR 9/26.
SOON AS I GET IT INSTALLED AND PLAY WITH IT AWHILE, I'M SURE I WILL HAVE
SOME QUESTIONS.

DOES ANYBODY HAVE A LIST OF KEYBOARDS SUPPORTED BY SOUNDDIVER?
COULD IT BE E-MAILED TO ME. I AM SO ANXIOUS. I AM BIDDING ON A COUPLE
MODULES ON EBY AND IT WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW IF THEY ARE COVERED.
or IS THERE A WEBSITE ANYWHERE OUT THERE TO DOWNLOAD THE LIST.
THANKS

Hi There,
I have several midi soundbanks for the Virus C - I'm using the Sounddiver
Public Beta (for OSX)and I'm having trouble importing .mid soundbanks into
Sounddiver - it says "format not recognized".
How do I convert the .mid to .lib ?
Thanks a lot!

I use the existing D550 adaption.
I can edit Reverb type and reverb balance - are you thinking of
adding more detail? Is it even possible...?
Regards - Colin
PS - I will send you the D-550 manual in a private e-mail (sysex info
at the end.....)
Hi,
I use a copy of V3 on my PC too. Best you get all updates, install
it from the CD if its not the last version you should do the
following steps first (I highly recomment this, as you will get in
functional troubles without V 3.0.5.4. installed on XP SP2) -
install update to V 3.0.4 and than overwrite the
prog../emagic/sounddiver directory with the last version V 3.0.5.4
files - than it should work with near every MIDI interface (except
behringer BCA2000 stuff that would not work at all). I use it with
my EDIROL UM-880, and it worked fine - till windows did not longer
recognize its MIDI ports - typical MS shit. A list of supported
synths is on the original CD - a PDF file with 8MB size, so I could
not post it here.
Good luck with your Diver, Markus.
p.s.: another tip, never answer search for or something like this to
a box opened by SoundDiver at startup, best you try skip or try
later (dont know their names in english), in most cases the other
way will take you to a "simulated HW" mode, and you get no working
connection to your synths.
Hello-
Soundiver 3.0 (Mac OS 9) does not play nicely with my CZ-101. It
successfully requests data, and with some coaxing, I was also able to
switch tones around within the internal memory bank. I was not,
however, able to open (via the import command) sysex banks in the CZ-
101 device window. I was forced to open them in "general sysex,"
but I
was unable to then transmit from general sysex to my CZ synth.
I have searched the archived messages and I understand the idea of the
workaround, but I simply cannot transmit from general sysex to the
101. Is there an updated Casio module? Should I hunt down an update
for Soundiver somewhere? Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
-Ron
I just read in the previous digest that 3.0.5.4 is the only trusted
version for XP.
Well, after having significant comms problems with mine, I thought
I'd check which version I had on my XP box which is having all sorts
of issues when running over MidiOverLan.
It transmits, but wont receive..... Anyway, it is version 3.0.4.0 ...
so I don't know where to find the more recent version.
Any ideas!?
Best Regards,
Matt

Please ignore my previous post. I have got the latest version... but
in the continuing saga of trying to get my PC to receive data via
MidiOverLanCP from my Mac..... err... welll.... it still doesn't
work. I can transmit no problem and I have edited the ini file so
that all my ports are set to "7" in the registry thingy.
Any ever tried this? Got it to work?

Does anyone remember, without me having to go through the pain,
whether Beta 1 excluded the transpose bug?
I am not game enough to try again!

Beta 1 also required a timed serial# that has long since expired and I
doubt Apple will give you another one..

After hunting down updates and bringing myself current to 3.0.5.2, I
am now able to transmit from general sysex to the CZ-101. And with
the workaround I will be able to slowly put together what I need.
Thanks.
I am soooo close to getting this working with XP via my G5 using
Midipipe and MidiOverLanCP.
I can edit the midi boxes and transmit files.... I just can't get
info to Diver. The midi monitor in both machines (Mac and PC) light
up as if the handshake is taking place, but Diver in windows just
hangs with the retry/abort message.

Matt

I migrated from 10.2 to 10.4. Normally all extensions should still be there.
Where should I find this XS key system extension?

Thank you very much, Colin. I'd like to send the reply to the list
again.
Yes, I want to edit more detail. According to the manual, D-50 has
188 bytes of paramter for the reverb. If we can know what these bytes
mean, we would be able to control deeper parameters - reverb type,
reverb time, high dump, etc.
Hi,
I'd like to ask you about how to save Roland D-550's patches into
SoundDiver.
When I send patches from D-550 to SoundDiver, using the one-way dump,
pushing the buttons on D-550, SoundDiver does not receive the
patches.
When I use SoundDiver's request function, D-550 displays "Checksum
error" and the patches won't load.
Please tell me any information.
Thanks in advance.
Best,

It works here, so here are my settings:
On the D-550, hit the <MIDI> button, hit the >> key to get to
the
MIDI-3 page and make sure that <Exclu> is ON.
On the MIDI-1 page I have <MIDICH> set to 01 and <CONTROL> set
to G.CH
In SoundDiver, I have the Device ID set to 1
Select a patch or several patches and hit the Request button in the
Device window.
Hope this helps...

Hi group
I've had sounddiver for years, (Mac2.1) and have decided to ditch useing my
Mac OS 9
computer in my system, as it is never turned on any more, I found a buyer
for sounddiver
but he is PC only and I only have the Mac version, I wrote to Emagic.de and
it looks like I
won't get any help there. Dose anybody know of a way I could get a PC copy.
My copy of course is Legit but with no support for the software any more I
don't know if
there is anyway to solve this problem, We probably can't even change the
regestration any
more.
see below the response emagic sent back
I am not surprised at all by there responce nor am i angry

AFAIK the reverb parameters in the D550/D50 were never publicly
documented by Roland. Dr T had an editor that made it possible to
(blindly) adjust them all. I used that editor extensively until I
understood touching a single parameter did nothing intelligible. A
comment I read some years later from someone involved in its
development (Eric Persing?) taught us that the reverb programming
nearly cost the guy who did it his job, but serendipitously the result
was astounding (for the time), and he was instead lauded for his
efforts, though nobody understood really what he had created, and also
suggested that whole groups of these "parameters" were required to
get
anything audible to happen. So if I recall correctly, Dr T learned how
to access them all, and I think it was page after page of sliders,
none of them marked, since noone knew what any one slider did. So, get
yourself an Atari 1040 (at least) or perhaps an emulator and hunt down
that Dr T editor, and you'll be all set, so to speak. Or just turn the
reverb off and use Space Designer...

Hello everyone, I'm new to the group.
I have SoundDiver 3.0, and thanks to this group have been able to track down
the updates to 3.052. I also have a Roland SRV-330 Dimensional Space Reverb
which is listed as one of the units supported for editing with SoundDiver.
The program recognizes the SRV-330, and will request the patches, however
that seems to be the limit of what I can do. SoundDiver will not edit the
patches, nor will it use any of the other potential editing features such as
re-routing the patch numbers. Does anyone know why this is? Have I missed
something?
Thanks,
Craig
It is now October 2006 and MOTU still has not fixed this problem.
The MOTU MTP AV and probably their other MIDI routers can not be used with a
MIDI editor/librarian.
I have the MOTU MIDI TIMEPIECE MTP AV paraellel ROM 1.2.0 and it will not
work with any of the MIDI ediotrs and librarians on the market.
It still works fine for routing keyboard keys/aftertouch but thats about it.
MIDI QUEST XL, SOUNDDIVER, ROLAND XV editor/librarian all can not pass SYSEX
through the MTP AV.
