Subject: [SoundDiver] Re: [LUG] "midi.InOpen" "This fuction is not supported"

I have never used SoundDiver myself, but I suspect that both programs are contending for the single MIDI input driver. Isn't there some required launching order for using both programs in parallel? Capabilities is a description inside the driver, telling programs what the driver can do, i.e. how many MIDI and audio ports it provides. This in turn determines e.g. which MIDI ports Logic has available within the instrument parameters. It looks as if your MIDI input in fact *is* seen by the system ("midi-in.0/0001 0067/Delta AP192 MIDI") (Where does the Device/Identifier/Device Description list come from?) I get the feeling that one program already exclusively uses the only MIDI input port, and the other program can't use it as well - which, according to the error message, looks as if there was no MIDI input port at all. Maybe some remaining Windows SoundDiver users can help...? Message #17453
Hi, I've sent an email to info@emagic.de for a new authorization # for my SD beta copy which has expired...again. I haven't received a reply yet. I emailed the request on Sept. 5th My last request to info@emagic.de for a new # was emailed back to me on Oct. 10th 2005. Does anyone know if the above address is active, does it get sent to Apple? Is there another address someone could tell me about? Thanks, Fred

Well the beta has no expiration date unless youre still using the very first one. All it needs is an XS Key, doesnt even need a serial.. I've re-installed my copy of the beta (version 3.1 beta 08 from the Apple Get Info Box) and it says, sucessfully installed, but upon launching it says no valid SD authorization exists. Then it quits. I know EMagic doesn't exist, my last reply was from "noreply@Apple.com", that was the email with my last authorization #. I was thinking that the info@emagic.com got bounced to over to Apple somehow. So, if I'm using an older copy does anyone have a link to the absolute latest? The one without an expiration date. Also, I'm a Logic user from version 4, I do have an XSKey. A blue one, it says EMagic on it. Any help is appreciated, Fred

It requires no authorization at all except an XSKey plugged in, which if you already have one, you shouldnt be having this problem.. If you search through the message archives you will find the URL for the proper beta located at Apple's site.. The OSX folder has the SD beta 2, the correct one. It's just a Stuffit Archive without a proper installer. I copied the items where they should be located and everything works. One bit of info fwiw, the XSKey preferences in the System Prefs panel still states that SD demo has expired.

Sorry I couldnt find a message in my mail at work with the URL in it hehe. My big archive/mailbox is at home. Yeah same here with the XS preferences.. Mines been that way since my last key ran out (I went through two of them from Emagic before the second one was released). Shouldnt matter though, it all works, at least as well as the beta does hehe. I havent logged into the Yahoo Groups website in awhile but we should really have that URL posted right on the welcome page if its not already hehehe. I would bet that 80% of the traffic we get still is this question. XS-key I used Logic Audio 5 on my Mac without any problem. When changing to OSX10.3 the XS-key was not recognized any longer. This forced me to buy Logic Express. So am I right to fear that SoundDiver won't recognize my XS-key neither? I'm now working with OSX 10.4.7

Did you try running any of the many XSKey updaters that have come out?? I dont belive Apple killed Logic 5 at all on the XSKeys during any of the updates.. The only time I saw my key change was when upgrading from Logic Platinum 6 to Logic Pro 6, where we got all the plugins and extra software included. Im pretty sure Im still authorized for 5 and can use it no problem.. Its more than likely it was OS 10.3 and perhaps Logic 5 was no longer compatible with the OS. Although the key shouldve worked just fine and not required you to buy a new version of Logic.. But then again perhaps Audio and not Platinum were a factor as well.. Kinda odd though.. As for SD, well you obviously know Express doesnt have an XSKey so thats a no right there, but try it with your key it may work.. If not definately try and download one of the XSKey updates that were released.. This may have done something that adds SD to the keys firmware.. -- Chris http://www.monotrematamusic.com http://www.myspace.com/monotremata http://www.descentrecords.com

Thank you for your reply Chris. Using Unitor8mkll, had it for 5 yrs., and I use it with Logic Pro7.2.1. JV and QS work fine in Logic, which is my primary audio software. Well I think its pretty safe to rule out your midi interface if its working fine with Logic.. I use an AMT8 myself (had it about the same time as you hehe) and have never run into trouble with it.. IM actually shocked that Apple is still supporting and updating the drivers for it! Sounds to me like it may actually be the modules for those two synths themselves.. I know I had to tweak the timeout value on the MicroQ adaptation to get my MicroQ to talk to SD and function correctly. Some things just dont work like they used to in the old version. This could be the same deal, but Ill pipe down now and let some JV/QS users chime in with their experiences. Whatever you do make sure you dont have Logic Pro and Sound Diver open at the same time.. You simply CANT use Logic and Sound Diver at the same time anymore. One of the many 'features' well probably never see fixed just like how it automatically writes patches back to your synths regardless of whether you tell it to or not hehe. --- Chris www.monotrematamusic.com www.descentrecords.com

Subject: [SoundDiver] Roland D-50/550 Reverb edit
Message #17474
Hi, I'm now playing Roland D-550. Using SysEx, it would be possible to edit deeper parameters of reverbs. But the manual doesn't clarify the details. Please tell me if you know anything about D-50 reverb SysEx. Then I'll make an adaptation for SoundDiver. Best, Sealed http://deepsynthesis.net
