Subject: 01X and SoundDiver
Message #16627
Hello all Well it's actually an info (I didn't found about it here) : I come back to SoundDiver and my Korg WS EX and 05R/W that I used a lot long time ago when I was still under MacOS 8 and I had a Promix instead of a 01X. So I'm now under MacOS 10.3.7 on a PB G4 with the last Auto Connector (greatly improved !). I just had some test with SoundDiver (3.1.0 pub beta 2) and with an amt8 Logic, a MT4 Logic and also the 01X as MIDI interface. When the 01X is connected, whatever the interface I use, I have the same sysex error problems which don't exist when the 01X is not connected. I drove the SoundDiver MIDI interface test which indicates not working properly interfaces (all 3 of them) and something about plug 4 (don't remember exactly). I imagine these problems may be reliable with the continuous sysex communication between the Mac and the 01X ? Subject: Soundiver (Win) and Unitor Problem unsolved - Hotline off
Message #16628
This is a reply to #16615.
Hi, so far I figured out that on my new system there is no midi action (no light blinkin) on the unitor when I try to use the sounddiver. Nothing can get loaded. Switched over to the old system on my 2nd PCit works fine. So I think it is a unitor midi problem in my new pc and configuration. Still get the text message when I open sounddiver or unitor control. any solutions ? and how will sounddiver be supported in 2005 or is it all over for pc user ? Any help deeply welcome, thank you in advance !!!!! Subject: Soundiver 3.052 (Win) Unitor scan & install problem
Message #16629
This is a reply to #16628.
Hi, now I installed Unitor control 3.504 on my new pc and it scans the unitor fine, but if I try to scan unitor by sounddiver the system hangs, no scan possible. Compared to my old setup I realised that a line on the upper right side of the sd-window disappeared, where I was able to select between computer and patchbay. Finally after all testing I think it is something wrong in sounddiver on XP, not able recognizing the unitor. Since the untior is between computer and patchbay & all other external devices the unitor is blocking all possible setups. Is there nobody out there that is able to help, please ?? !! Subject: SOundDiver & Proteus 2000
Message #16632
I recently have noticed a severe problem with my setup that was not happening before. I haven't been using SoundDiver for a long time and I recently found the need to do so. WHen I request memory from my proteus2k and try using the audition function to check out the diffrent programs from within SounDiver, the programs do not load up correctly. SounDiver is not sending all the appropriate info to the soundmodule so the patches are loading up without the actual sounds. When I scroll thru the menus in my p2k on the instrumenst panel showing what multisets are being used for the current patch its showing "not installed" meaning the sound rom requested its not there. This never happened before. Everything is the same version its always been and it worked before. I tried initializing the p2k with factory settings and nothing. I'm not sure whats the problem. I running SoundDiver 3.05 on WinXP Sp1. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanx!

Subject: problem with external MIDI interface
Message #16634
Greetings. I'm trying to use Sounddiver JV/XP with my JV-1010. Like many, I've had problems with the JV-1010's serial cable, and have given up on it. I'm trying to use an external MIDI interface instead. To that end, I bought a Tascam US-122 audio/midi interface. The problem is, both the Tascam and the JV-1010 have only one MIDI In port. The Tascam's MIDI Out needs to connect to the JV-1010's MIDI In and vice versa. This leaves nowhere for me to connect the MIDI Out from my keyboard. I thought using MIDI Thru ports would solve this problem, for example: (1) connecting the Tascam's MIDI Out to the keyboard's MIDI Thru; or (2) connecting the keyboard's MIDI Out to the JV-1010's MIDI Thru. These don't work -- when I play the keyboard, no MIDI data shows up on the Tascam. Does anyone have any suggestions as to different connections or different equipment? For example, do I need a multi-port MIDI interface that will accept MIDI Ins from both the keyboard and the JV-1010? Or a MIDI merge box? Thanks in advance for any responses.

I didn't test with my other devices for the moment : Powerbook G4 1GHz, 768 Mo RAM, MacOSX3.7, SoundDiver 3.1.0 Beta 2 ; Emagic amt8 or mt4 MIDI interface, Korg Wavestation EX and 05R/W, Alesis QS6 for the synths. You will probably soon find out that one midi port is not sufficient for other reasons too. Maybe you'll get another module? Unless you want to use the audio capabilities of the Tascam the US-122 does not seem to be the ideal tool (mind you I do not have any experience with it, I'm just referring to the specs.) You should go for an extra midi interface either added to the US-122 or replacing it if you do not need the audio.. Cheers, Bob. Bob Lowen bob.lowen@... Not loading Triton rack entries is an old problem. I have it on a Mac with OS 9.2.2. and SD 3 (.4 or something). It will e.g. load presets but not from expansion modules. Cheers, Bob. If the instrument is fully supported, the patch names will rapidly fill up.. Then You save to Library namned whatever you like, then when you close Sounddiver, the library writes the entries. Don't try to copy the library to a floppy or other media before Sounddiver closes as all you get is an empty file, which can cause offence.

I know that I cannot access the flip menu in the TrinityPro module. It causes a full lock up. The workaround is to access an adjacent parameter and 'arrow' to the flip and use the +/- buttons to change the value. This has been present since the incarnation of the OSX version (and all since). I also have a problem with scanning and receiving patch names from equipment, however, this is not version specific, just another legacy bug that goes with the OSX. (all versions) I have had to settle with fiddling the timing of the 'dump reception' and limit myself to receiving in dumps of ten patches and then looking back to make sure there are none greyed out. Well, it seems that Emapples desire for me to use more software based synths might be working. However, when needed, I am able to get results from Diver, albeit in a long winded way. Subject: Help needed for old SoundDiver release
Message #16645
I've dug out my Yamaha SY99 out of storage along with a copy of SoundDiver, version 2.01 for Windows still in the box. But my Master Diskette for licensing and getting it running is missing. Imagine my surprise to find out SoundDiver has been discontinued! But SoundDiver was the only editor that was good at handling the SY99. Any suggestions?

Subject: How can I link 2 Emagic AMT8 ?
Message #16646
Hello, I own 2 full working Emagic AMT8. On Mac OS 9 , I have never had any problem to link the 2 devices with the link cable. On Mac OS 10.3.7, I can detect the first AMT8 but not the second. I use Logic Audio Pro 6.4.3 and the midi driver for the AMT8 version 3.1 (unitor driver) Is it a known bug? Strangely SD works without AMT8 but directly thru the utility of Apple:" Configuration audio et Midi" I skake everithing. Thanks in advancefor any help. Lucien PS: at the first look SD 3 beta works with Kawai K5000s Korg 03R Yam TG77 Yam FS1R Waldorf XT rack E-mu Proteus 2000 and Virtuoso (with multi partial dumps...)

Hi Lucian, Try pairing them via RS422 port (Mac serial) instead of RS232 (PC). Dont know if this is a similar scenario but . . . I have Amt8 to puta via USB then Unitor 8 running either rs232 to rs422 (this allows you to keep daisy chaining more units later in the same fashion). For Mac i believe its rs422 to rs232. Then in your midi device settings your mac will only see 1 amt8 but you set this to 16 ports. Basically it will see one 16 port amt8. As i said im not too sure if this is the scenario on a mac but this is how my PC sees my two interfaces as one. Regards Richard

Howdy I would suggest getting your hands on a more recent release as the SY99 is still included. 3.05 is the last release for windows, you should be able to get a secondhand copy from ebay.
