Keep in mind Emagic products can still be ordered through Apple dealers,
which has been the case from the beginning. Since many Emagic dealers were
Apple dealers anyway (like IMS, the company I work for) not much has really
changed at all.

Anyone know if somewhere there is an adaptation for Yamaha Motif ES ?
Thanks in advance.
Maybe they'll realize us PC users are worth keeping around someday, and
start supporting us again...

Hi, I've never found one, but there is an environment for it at

Steve

Thanks for replying to my message. I am using a PC. I have not checked if
there is a midi driver present. How do I do this and if I need one what do I
use and where do I get it from?
Also I have just purchased a Yamaha UX 16 USB to Midi interface, delivery
should be within the next few days. I'm hoping that this will make a
difference.
Thanks for any help.

Howdy,
I am working on the MKS-70 adaptation patch editor, trying to get
the patcheditor to edit patchbank entries.
The basic problem is the bulk message dump requires 48 byte size,
and the patcheditor requires 53 byte size allocations. When I read
the midi-spec I see 52 entries for patch parameters, so it would
seem the midi bulk dump is compressing some parameters (at least 4,
but likely 8). This is probably just bit-bashing compression.
My question is has anyone analysed a MKS-70 dump?, Does anyone know
the compressed parameter fields?
Does any one have any tips on bit-bashing a midi-bulk dump, so as to
expand the values into say two fields in SD??? The Patcheditor
needs the uncompressed values.
One way is to make one adaption a MKS-70 bulk dump, and install it
as a device, then have the MKS-70 regular adaption convert it's
banks to be MKS-70 52 patch parameters. Mostly the trick is writing
a converter just the JX-8P bank converter.
Happy playin & thanx in advance for any help,
RS

Hi - go to control panel>device manager and look at the midi devices (i
think it's called) section - if you have an active midi driver it will
show here - saying something like 'this device is working properly' -
or not. If you have ordered a new midi interface this should come with
any necessary drivers and your problems should be over. Here's hoping,
steve
Officially (in a reply to my question Emagic writes "unfortunately
there are no help files for SoundDiver public beta.") there are no
help files for SoundDiver in OS X. However, help files that probably
could be used exist, and there are no apparent principle differences
between the OS 9 and OS X versions of the program (except of course
that OS 9 works pretty OK, while OS X works only sporadically). Has
anyone tried to figure out how to address the help files from within
the OS X beta versions (1 and 2)?

Saw your message, but I need time to investigate some things. I'l stay

I have installed my new USB to MIDI interface. The driver is installed and
is working properly. I believe that there is an outgoing signal but not an
incoming signal. The midi monitor shows there is a signal out, and on start
up it scans the incoming signal then fails to find one. What is the Device
ID - is it possible that the channel does not match? I tried a loopback test
and was told 'no data was returned'. I am now becoming frustrated. Anymore
ideas. I have attached a screenshot - it may give a clue to the problem.
Sorry about this - I'm a bit of a technophobe.

Come to think of it I was down at my dealers (Sound Control) and they said
the exclusive?! distribution of the e-magic pro-6 etc will restrict sales to
PC users, hmm is Joe really trying to take over the world too?
<Admin - this statement kind of flies in the face of reality. Emagic no
longer sells software for the PC platform, hasn't done so for quite some
time.>
Ps I have seen Cake walk in use a while back -Seems a little fiddly maybe
they have made it friendlier (circa 2000)

For my own adaptations, I just run them through the help compiler.
Works fine.

Ingo,
Please explain - what help compiler?
Is there a way to access these help files from WITHIN Sounddiver, so
that they are interactive and "follow" the selected functions as
they
used to always do?

I meant the program SSHC that came with earlier versions of SoundDiver,
located in the folder "Creating Adaptations". To run this program
you'd
need the source of the help file, that's why I wrote "for my own
adaptations". After running SSHC the help works as it used to do. I
experienced some crashes with the first beta when using the help though.

Thanks for that extra info Ingo.
Hmmmmm.......
I wonder if SoundDiver OSX will *ever* be completely functional?

I'm in serious trouble with SD on Osx. I'm very disappointed of this,
because I
am not able to use Logic 6.4.2 and SD (what's about soundlink??? I don't
find
anymore the preset names on my single instruments in Logic) without crash (
of Logic, or SD or of Digi CoreAudio). But I paid even hard to have a
professional system, and now, that I passed to G5 believing to enhance my
system I have a lot of trouble. I can't use my SD library like before!! I
have to
work at several projects but I lost my time on crashes and other.

If you had been follwing all of the discussion here about the OS X beta,
you would know that Autolink does not work under OS X, as told to us by
Michael Haydn, developer of Sound Diver.
You have to manually copy/paste your patch names from Sound Diver to the
Environment in Logic.

Hello Michael Haydn!
Ingo Debus sent me the following interchange between you and Colin
Shapiro concerning the online help problem with the OS X betas of
Diver:
>Am 24.01.2004 um 11:56 schrieb Colin Shapiro:
>>I don't have *ANY* help files in the OSX version. (apart from the

So this was 8 months ago. I read all the rumors about Diver
functionality in Logic 7, but now that Logic 7 has been released (not
the physical item, at least not here in Sweden, but info about the
upgrade package), there was no mention of Diver functionality.
Assuming that Diver will continue as a separate product: when will the
online help be back in order? I hope the very long period of time
since the most recent update in an OS 9 version which came at about
the same time as the first OS X beta which was not for SoundDiver
users but for XSKey owners does not mean that the program will be
quietly killed. Diver is an incredible platform that shouldn't be
allowed to pass away.
Best regards
Michael Bransome
PS I forgot to mention I have tried to replace the missing help
material using SSHC but end up with adatations that crash both beta's.
Hallo,
my Triton LE 76 has Operatingsystem 1.50
an I´m not able to load the Combinations in Sounddiver. I can load
single combinations but not a whole bank. Seems to be a problem with
SYS-EX DATA.
Are there any hints for me?
Who said that life is easy
