It functions as a control. Since it is still a beta test, Emagic is looking
to see how the software is going to work in final release. You want to see
how it works with Logic and the latest version of the OS, first, as this is
going to represent the majority of users.
FWIW-
The beta2 seems to have improved things a bit, I'm only using SD to edit my
Roland Fantom and my Korg Wavestation SR, and it seems to be fine with both.

I used to own an S5000 an found that Akai's software (Akai.Sys) for that
product was far superior than anything that might be found in Soundiver,
especially given that it's sampler and not a ROM synth, and requires
sample librarian functions. I'd probably still own my Akai had they been
a little quicker about delivering the OSX version. Still, EXS24 is so
much easier to use. I'm curious why you'd prefer SD3 over Akai.Sys given
that it doesn't handle the sample loading, and would likely be a generic
adaptation at best.
I currently have an 01/W rack and haven't had any data dump problems
with SD. I used to have an 01/W keyboard and experienced garbled names.
The problem in that case was a bad RAM battery on the motherboard.
Replacing that restored it all to 100%. It's a fairly common computer
type battery and can be easily user replaced. That might be the cause of
your problems.

Subject: SD wish list
Hi,
Just want to thank Michael and the guys at Emagic for keeping SD alive.
Also here's my personal very small SD wish list:
1. Akai S3000XL/S6000/Z8 support on both 9 and X.
2. Support for E-Mu EOS 4 features (I know, I know, but still...).
3. Better support for Korg 01/W on both 9 and X (program names and
other data still garbled on data dumps from SD).
Mucho thanks again.
Best,
Andy

Not Read the SD group for the last 3 months then??
Not heard of Logic's USB Dongle protection in the last 3-4 years??
Old chestnut, not worth going over again, and again
and again........

I'd like to have snapshots of all my equipment (a bunch of XL machines,
Emulator and 01/W, also Z8 would be added immediately if it were
supported by SD) for (program names, filter/env/LFO settings and stuff
like that) for every song so I can re-create all my settings in one go.

It actually was a friend's problem. Mine works fine, but he was not
able to dump the data correctly whatever he did. I'll forward your
advise to him. Thanks a lot.

Is the bug fixed that caused the internal sounds on your synths to be
overwritten when editing?
There's not much info in the read-me file.....

Has anybody tried using the wavestation module at all in osx? It is very
erratic, to the point that I can't even download a single bank reliably.
This is true with both my wavestation A/D an SR, both wired directly
into an amt8. I even tried installing a fresh OSX with just sounddiver
on it.
Has anybody else had any experiences with this?
Cheers
I have not been able to install the Beta 2 of SD. It starts to
install then states that there is an error and to try again. I have
tried several times and re-downloaded the Beta2 file from Emagic as
well. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Hello to everybody. I am a new user of SoundDiver and i have the
following problem. I need to use it, with a Roland GP100 and with a
TC G-Major. With the GP100, i don't get him to connect in no way
and with the G-Major if that it connects and he sends me correctly
the presets, but the presets names, it erases them. Somebody can
give me some advice?. Why this makes?
Thank you

Try to delete
/Library/Receipts/SoundDiver 3.1.pkg
This worked for me.

This is a typical sign for "dropped bytes" in the MIDI
communication. You
didn't write which kind of operating system and MIDI interface you use; I
suspect the problem lies with the MIDI interface or the driver for the
interface.

It's the Wavestation. I have an SR, and it's always been a bit wiggy with
SYSEX dumps. I have Unisyn and SD and it's the same with both. I get it so
that it's manageable, but it ain't perfect.

Hello. The operating system that I use is Windows XP and the
interface midi is Emagic A62m.
Thank you.
Nothing seems to be any better in my case. In fact, it actually appears
worse than the public beta 1.
My Trinity does not scan as well as before. If, for example, I scan a
bank of ten sounds, I will still be left with about 50% of the patch
names greyed out, as if they were still unknown.
Also, the Trinity Insert Flip menu is still a problem. If you select
this parameter with the mouse, it will lock up Diver. The only way to
use it, is to select an adjacent parameter and use the arrow keys to
select it and then +/- to alter it.
As far as the saving problems go, well, they are still an issue here.
Overall, I think the beta 2 is worse than beta 1.
Regards,
Matt

Same here. My EX just lost the RAM banks. ..battery. So after replacing the
battery I spent hours trying to get the beta to reload internet downloaded
sysex and midi versions of the factory ram with no success.
Finally, last night fired up an old Atari and Xor and found the factory ram
I'd stored and forgotten there years ago. Transferred without a glitch.
Xor & Atari....no fancy icons, few bells and whistles but still does
exactly
what it was designed to do 20??? Years ago.

It works fine with the old Sounddiver running under classic, the
wavestation is very temperamental, I know, but I know all the work
arounds and this really does seem to be a problem with the wavestation
driver in the beta.

No. PB2 was a quick shot. It mainly addresses the most pressing issues:
* XSKey demo timed out
* online help was missing
* adaptations were on the 3.0.0, not the 3.0.5 state
* K2000 module unusable

Yes, the readme was written by someone else while I was on vacation :-)

Speaking of Assi's wonderful Waldorf adaptations..
Dont know if this was just when I tried it the other day or if it is a
bug (will try again tonight, couldve been my machine) but I tried to
open the Micro Q adaptation and change the icon to match my rack MQ.
When I selected Import, nothing happens at all..

Thanks for that info Michael.
I really hope that you can implement the bugfixes that myself and
others have posted about.
SoundDiver is an indispensable tool in many studios and deserves to
be completed at last.
We do appreciate what is being done though.....

That must be an interesting story of how he came to do music software. I
know
of what fellow who became a doctor and practiced but didn't like it, and
went
back and got a PhD in mathematics and is a mathematics professor at a fairly
good university.
I just bought an AMT8, after my opcode studio IV finally went to Valhalla. I
gotta tell you it was an unnecessary ordeal. The manul says to click on
"setup" on the CD - but there is no such thing nor a unitor
program - except for in
the system 9 folders. I ended up going to the Emagic website and downloading
the Unitor8 and the core midi. However, the core midi refused to install...
saying only that it would not install "(null)". It turned out I
didn't need it
after all.
The manual said to start up the unitor app, and load the synths - I was
expecting it to show the studio set up like Soundiver ...but nothing would
show up
which is really confusing. Nothing seemed to be happening at all. The manual
further said in step 2 to open the app, then in step 3 said to open the app
again. Then no clear directions. I finally opened logic and then the USB
port was
just there like magic.
In the end, pretty painless - as long as I ignore all the documentation
which
100% useless. It seems to work great ... except the RS422 light keeps
lighting up even though its not connected at all because I am only using the
USB
cable.

It's as easy as enabling it in Audio MIDI Setup and Logic in X or Logic
(and OMS if necessary) in 9. The app mentioned in the docs is a special
stripped down version of SoundDiver called Unitor8 Control (9 and X).
If you own SD there's no need to DL that app, just use SoundDiver
instead.

beta 2 installer asks for permission, starts with installation, but after a
second says: there
were errors. please try again.
trying to find a solution, i had thrown beta 1 out of the system. did not
help. when trying
afterwards to run insller of beta 1 again, got the same result.
what could go wrong? (had disconnected pheriphery, tried with xs key
de-attached, ...) all
the rest on my machine works and installs flawlessly.
will appreciate any cue
