Can anyone send me the VP-9000.ADA or post in the files area of this
group? It comes with the new SD version...
Thanks,
Jan
I wouldn't count on it. In fact I wouldn't count on ed/librarians
existing very much longer - have you tried NI's FM?! Beats the pants
off my TX816 except I can't get anywhere near the same number of voices
and I would miss the aliasing grunge and 12 bit convertor noise! It's
also one tenth the price of a TX816 unit when they were new and is
extremely portable! (and no batteries to pull and solder, and FM
generates very little heat, and...)
My point is that soft synths are definitely going to replace hardware -
though it will take a while, it will happen and ed/librarians will be
utterly irrelevant.
In the mean time look how hard it is to upkeep SD? It's been, what 5
years since 3 and beta ever since 3.05! Don't mention Unisyn or Galaxy!

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe Apple don't want to make it easy for us to use
our MIDI synths - maybe they'd rather sell AU$5000 computers more than
they want to sell AU$600 (or whatever it used to cost) MIDI librarian
software? Impulse reverbs, physical modeling softsynths (i.e. Sculpture
when it's eventually released), etc. like lots of G5 CPU power.
My guess is that if it were up to the guys at Emagic SoundDiver would be
a happening thing, but I don't trust any big companies (i.e. Apple, not
Emagic) to have any motivation other than profit.

I doubt that will happen. There is a huge market for new MIDI
hardware, not to mention all the MIDI gear already out there.
Hardware often sounds better (real analogue, dedicated DSP), has a
better interface (designed specifically for itself), is more reliable
(not dependent on software and hardware from other manufacturers),
more universal (it avoids all of the AU, VST, RTAS stuff), easier to
resell, and much more tangible ("look at my flashy new synth").
Musicians like the reality of something that they can physically play
on their own.

Hey Bill, I agree that Apple, like most companies, is motivated by
profit. Which is why I do not think they would have developed an OS
X version of SoundDiver unless they planned on selling it.
Considering the number of people who have Macintoshes and MIDI gear,
there is a significant demand for editor/librarian software. That's
money to be made in addition to selling softsynths and new computers.
No offense to the individual who created the AN1X adaptation, but
it's a bit less than fully usable without having access to the
effects section. Am I missing something here? I didn't see any
effects parameters listed. If someone knows something I don't, feel
free to slap me around and set me straight.
I'm hoping to gain access to the old Yamaha AN1X editor that Yamaha
wrote for OS 9. It worked rather well. There's a beta driver being
worked on to allow OMS dependent apps to work in Classic mode
alongside OS X. If that's successful that will be a decent enough
workaround.
On the other side of things, the adaptation for the Access Virus is
awesome and oh-so-polished. Since I was new to my Virus I was pulling
my hair trying to access the keyboard/portamento functions to change
a sound from monophonic voice allocation, to polyphonic. The manual
was no help. But I launched Soundiver and there it was plain as day.
The Virus editor is thing of beauty.
I too experienced Soundiver not recognizing my AMT8 on re-start, but
I ignored it and cancelled it trying to re-scan. I was still able to
access any of my synths just by double clicking on them to bring up
the editor window, and communication worked fine in both directions.
So I think the start-up glitch is only a "pseudo glitch", in that
communication between the computer and the AMT8 is working fine, even
if the app thinks it isn't.

Yeah, good point Mark. Maybe my sordid little mind is just too
cynical.... or maybe not.
Hi,
I am realtevely new to the list and couldn't find good answers to my
problems in the message archive:
Sounddiver doesn't work properly on my setup (OS:W2000/AMD Athlon XP2600).
The only units that sounddiver seems to find while scanning are my Unitor
Midi-Interface and my old Korg T2 synth.
ALl my other units won't be recognized by the software although they are
connected properly (in to out and vice versa) and I have set them up like
mentioned in the online help.
Here's the list of the units I talk about: Line6 PodPro, Akai S3000, Korg
A2, TC 2290, Yamaha SPX90, Yamaha SPX990, Yamaha SY77
I have set the Device ID's, I tried to install them manually but they never
get recognized.
WHen trying to do a loop-test of the Interface, that test lasts for about 20
minutes and then the program aborts and restarts the PC.
Any hints? If not I will sell my Sounddiver 3.0 software.
Thanx for reading,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
I think I know what your problem is...if so, its a miracle you've
got so much scanned! But there is a solution. I had this problem
running 2000 and emailed Soundtech (UK Support) and got this response
which sorted out all my issues in one swoop.

I was looking through the archives and couldn't find it so ...
What is the cheapest way to try out Soundiver for OSX beta? I don't own
Logic but I do own Soundiver for OS9.

You gotta get an XS key. Logic Express ($299, $149 edu) would be the
cheapest route if you buy new. Another option is to buy a version of
Logic 5 or 6, Plat, Gold, or Silver on ebay (as long as it comes
with an XS key, you're set) and transfer the license to yourself.
Hello Michael,
i finally found an sy99 to replace my tg77
there are many PD banks in T format that
are still not readable by SDiver, with the import
function , how come ?
u can get them all in there, 22mb files sorry !
(very few will work on Sdiver)
ftp://ftp.rssd.esa.int/pub/atoni/in/allsy99.zip
as with the sy77/tg77 some T file are readable some are not ..
and unfortunately the same apply to the sy99
yes, i do have the latest SY/Sdiver adaptations on WINXP SP1
Maudio Aphile 2496 (latest driver).
i taught this problem was fixed in 3.05 but is still there.
Worst thing of all is that while u build up a library
with the imported T files one by one , SD will crash on a bad one
and u have to start ALL OVER again !!! EVERY dammm time !
till u find by trail and error the good or bad T file !
Actually they are all good if u load them via floppy
so how come that Sdiver can't import them ?
i can also send u the midi specs for the sy99 but i am sure
u have them already or u can get them on line from Yamaha.
and yes of course i can load them all via floppy one by one
but this is not the point :-(
Tnx in advance
Regards

I realise that this is not strictly a Soundiver question but you can imagine
that with a MIDI related question, Soundiver users may well have the answer
to my question - so hopefully it will be allowed!
I hate to do this but I did read the manual first honest! I use my
Proteus 2000 very lazily, as a preset sound source, have for a couple of
years, never learning to use it remotely properly. Now I wish to make one
minor edit and I can't work out how! I want to use it permanently in multi
timbral mode, selecting patches on each of just the first 16 MIDI channels
from Logic (That works) but I need to be able to adjust the FX levels for
each MIDI channel by sending CC messages on the relevant MIDI channel, for
each part. As far as I can tell, this feature doesn't show up in the Multi
mode edit page and although I found a page that allows the setting of
virtual patch chords that would EVENTUALLY allow me to do what I want, this
looked like it was in patch edit - ie I would have to do it to every patch!
I can't believe that's right. Anyone able to give me an idiots guide to
setting this up the way I want? Shame E-MU didn't just use CC91, 92 ,93 same
as most other manufacturers....Cheers, Gareth
Could anybody help me with a windows version that is available for

I think Windows and Mac versions are both on the same CD.
Hi,
I made a KORG Audio Gallery AG-10 adaptation.
AG-10 is the lowest end model of 01/W line. Using my editor, I found
AG-10's hidden waveforms and the new waveform modulation.
See the link below for
* AG-10 SoundDiver adaptation
* Info about the hidden waveforms and modulation
* Sound examples.

Hi there,
I'm a complete newbie to Sounddiver 3. I set everything up at the
weekend and managed to get everything talking to Sounddiver properly,
except my Oberheim Matrix 6. I'm guessing the fact it's old makes it
slightly more awkward to set up.
Can anyone give me some tips?
Many thanks
John
when I save K2000 patches to a library, it saves the dependent data
types too. but when I transmit these patches to the K2000, I get the
following error message in SD: "for x of y library entries, no
suitable device was found.' (x and y depending on the number of
patches I transmit). Has any else seen this message? I'm using a
fairly recent version of SD (3.xx) on OS9.2x. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Gosh. It's been about 5 years since I had my Matrix 6. I remember it
does work. Have you checked all the Matrix parameters? It's a very deep
beast and there are several (from memory) of them that relate to sysex
send receive. Check midi channel and device ID match in SD and Matrix.
If you need more help maybe mention what parameters are available in
the Matrix....
Good luck

Rachel,
I have had the same problem in OSX but I've had a bit of success resolving
the
problem. Two things to try to resolve this problem.
1. Make sure that your synth is in performance mode.
2. Try increasing the send pause and play delay times.
Good Luck

Hi,
Ive just started to try and use SD again as I used to get
frustrated with it crashing a lot.
My midi is all setup fine but I just cant get
SD to scan my SB Audigy outs. It tries to
scan the SB internal synth and...(surprise) it
finds nothing.
How exactly do I do this??

Hi guys,
I've created an editor environment for the Motif Rack. Not exactly
an SD adaptation, but it beats punching buttons and reading an
LCD interface. Details are in the readme file. Enjoy!!!

I have a Yamaha VL1 v2.
I have a Mac G3 computer and software Emagic SoundDiver.
I have managed to download Yamaha "Sounds" but Yamaha
"System" will
not download.
Computer says "Device VL1 v2 does not react" (SoundDiver).
Any ideas?
Anyone using a Virus "B" series with software 4.9 and soundiver
3.0.52
(retail) on a mac using OS9? I have used these together for the
longest time no problem. Somehow I am getting checksum errors when I
try and dump banks into my virus. Also some of the patches that get
dummped end up in the wrong place and/or with corrupt names. very
odd. Any thoughts? Thanks in advanced.
