Hi,
I recently got a new Computer and I just now installed Sound Diver on
it. I also updated it to the current 3.052 version. When I start
Sound Diver in Windows XP Pro, the first thing that appears is a box
which says something like 'Text not found'. I have to click OK twice
before Sound Diver loads. Then (I own the Waldorf Q, Korg Triton and
Virus A) when I try to receive the sounds from my synths the only one
that doesn't hang up is the Q. The Triton and the Virus both hang
during reception and Sound Diver stops responding :-( I am using the
Steinberg Midex8 interface. Everything was working fine on my old
machine in Windows 2000 though. I tried changing the timing and
everything, but it just won't work! Any help would be greatly
appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!
Ken
Hi Ken
unfortunately it looks like you have the same type of problems as me
I have posted my problem about 2 or three times on this list and also asked
Michael about his opintion
unfortunately he never replied to this problem
I use Win XP wid SD and a Edirol UM880 and have the same of problems, almost
every time my
sounddiver stops responding after receiving sounds or when I want to quit
SD, on my previous machine SD was working fine....(win98)
some other SD users on the list advised me to start Sounddiver in Win 98
mode (whcih can be done under XP) and sometimes
it looks like this helps a little, but the problem has not been solved...
michael, I try once more: if you read this can you please help (at least)
two loyal users of Sounddiver with this issue....
eric

Hi Eric,
well that's not good, is it? I hope Michael will respond to this.
On the other hand I can see why Windows wouldn't be Emagic's main
concern anymore :-(
Take care,
Ken

I have the exact same problem whith my AMT8 interface. Any solution
yet?

hi im about to buy a virus rack but it seems like SD dosent support the
new(4.0) os..
does SD for the older os work fine??
best
peter
I've been using SD with the Virus b (4.0os) for a while now with no
problems. As a matter of fact, it's enabled me to utilize my virus in
ways I would have NEVER before. It's really cool. And the interface
is sweet.
-best,
chris on the list

all,
i've been trying to download the sounddiver jv/xp 3.x update and it
appears as though their ftp server is up, but that it won't give me
access to the /pub area ('access denied'). i'm logging in as
anonymous, which should be fine, right?
also, is there any way to use a midi controller to play sounds as
you're editing them? i have a 4x4 midi interface.
any and all help is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
JP
Hi,
When I was making an adaptation, I opened the object editor many times.
I mistakenly hit the delete key, and my Mac freezed at once. The cursor
stops, no messages displayed.
Whenever I open the object editor and hit the delete key without selecting
anything, my Mac freezes.
Hasn't anyone experienced this problem, and is there anything I can do
to avoid this?
I use Mac G4 and OS 9.1.
Best,
Sealed
I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to solve this problem for several
months now. Finally, someone at Emagic responded, but the answer
isn't too promising:
"Unfortunately we have not been able to find a solution to this
problem yet. Hopefully a future update of Sound Diver will solve the
problem. -- Emagic Inc. Technical Support"
I won't be holding my breath.

Hi all,
Just wanting to reiterate that the need for an OSX version of diver as
not diminished.
A little message for those who wield the power necessary for this to
happen. I am certain Michael would not like to see the death of his
well developed baby, that has become a valuable part of our lives.
Regards,
Matt

I totally agree and since tomorrow the Apple Expo in Paris starts I'll go
and
see some folks I know at Apple and I'll reiterate that request
directly to them....
And also about waveburner because these apps are truly useful for us
and therefore
since we happen to have a new reverb intended for the professionals
considering
the price I think it's time that we have those tools up to date.
Meanwhile. Ciao

I agree!
Been with Emagic/C-Lab since the Polyframe-/Notator-times.
Spent an awful lot of money on their soft-/hardware.
I always had issues with Sound-Diver and my particular synths, so it would
generate lots of "bad-will" for Emagic to drop the support now,
especially
since I've been supporting them (and in this case SD) from day one.
Even if softsynths become more common, I'm sure there'll always be lots of
"hardsynths" around.
It's not one or the other.

Yes Mark - PLEASE! I've sent many e-mails via my local supplier to
Emagic and obviously there has been no definite news.
I think Apple needs to start taking the heat and also taking some
responsibility for SD & WB - maybe you could stress that even if they
just broke even on these 2 apps, it would be a goodwill exercise to
support faithful users of many years like Haken (see his mail),
myself (also since Notator days) and certainly many others. (not to
mention the fact that we are obviously owners of Apple Hardware too)
Please let us know what kind of response you get.......
Thanks
Colin
I have some problem using 2 AMT8 together(I did connect one to the
the other in it's Serial part with a supplied RS-232 cable as suggested in
the manual). However, When I try to send midi clock through these midi
interface, only one of the interface send out the clock: the one that is
not connected to USB port of my computer. In syncronization setting, I
did check the box to tell logic to send midi clock to the correct USB port,
but the result is the same. Is the daisy chain between the two interfaces
is the problem? This happens to me since I start using 4.8, and now
6.1.1. Or, is this is what supposed to be for Logic hardware? (I did
update all the software related to these midi interfaces

MIDI Clock can't be directed to a certain AMT8 port by the MIDI
software. Instead, the AMT8 sends MIDI clock on all ports, except the
ones which filter outgoing MIDI Clock (Realtime). Open the Computer
Mode Setup editor and check if Realtime is enabled for the second AMT8.

Is there any way that I could connect two macs to a single AMT8 and
therefore run Diver on one and Logic on the other.
This, for me, could solve the Diver OSX problem for a while. I don't
use the 'Open SoundDiver for instrument', as it has never worked at all.
I generally do some program change stuff in Logic to audition sounds
and then request the edit buffer in Diver.
Oh...... I wish I could just have Diver for X....
regards,
Matt

How about a USB KVM switch? I'm using one now to switch a monitor,
keyboard, mouse, etc. between two Macs. The one I'm using, by Iogear, has
four USB ports on it (and you can plug hubs into those ports if desired). I
don't see why it wouldn't work to plug the AMT-8 into one of the KVM USB
ports.

That doesn´t work for two reasons:
- the Iogear USM KVM Switch is a a real switcher. You can´t use the
USB
Inputs at the same time.
- if you don´t have a second monitor you won´t see anything when
you
change use Diver on the second computer

Sorry, didn't realize he wanted to use them both at the same time.

Hi,
I'm on a Mac, OS922, with Logic Plat6 and SD3. I'd like to get away from the
encumbrance of Autolink as it doesn't fit my sequencing style. Is there any
way to
seperate the programs and have them just share multiclient (Unitor8) MIDI
ports, ie
no communication between the programs at all?
Thanks,
Randall
Hello
I thought it was possible to use SD in Classic, when I do this it says that
my midi ports are in use and cannot see my serial midi interfaces !
Thanks in advance.

Yes (disable "Use Autolink" in Logic), but you will have to use
OMS for
both SoundDiver and Logic.

How about a workaround to use both Logic and SoundDiver (running in
Classic) in OSX?
The no-show of an OSX version of SoundDiver is a *serious* holdup for
myself and many others.
