I actually use the 3.0.5 version, but I still have the same problems... Now that I have a new PC, i do not really enjoy to install Windows 98 on it just for Sounddiver. Are there other alternatives to edit sounds on a JV-1010 ? Subject: Morpheus Problem
Message #14382
I have set up Sounddiver and it communicates and edits ok with all my synths except the Emu Morpheus. When selecting a patch in Soundiver, it places the patch into position #127 with the edit symbol next to it in the name box. Meanwhile it sends (or selects?)patch #127 (named 'def patch'on the Morpheus) to the selected patch number on the Morpheus. I hope that is clear! No edits I make are communicated to the Morpheus. Am I doing something wrong? Is there some box I should have un/ticked? It seems strange since all the other synths(JV2080,Nova,M1) are all working fine with the software with no fiddling. I am using Win 98 / Soundiver 3.0.5 beta. I updated because I thought it might have been a bug in my earlier version. Any help would be appreciated as we wanted a good editor for the difficult front end of the Morpheus. Cheers Stefan

This is not a bug in SoundDiver, but a workaround for a missing feature of the Morpheus: it does not to write to the Preset edit buffer directly. Sending to a certain memory location and recalling it is the only way to audition a preset, when it is not located in memory, e.g. in a library file. -- Beste Gruesse - best regards, Michael Haydn - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dipl.-Inform. Subject: orbit-3 recognition, presets?
Message #14387
I have an E-mu Orbit-3 that I'd like to hook up with sounddiver. My problems are : 1. There isn't an Orbit-3 preset available in the demo version. Is there one if you buy the retail? 2. My Orbit-3 only has the Protozoa ROM in it right now. It doesn't have beat garden and techno construction kit which are included if you buy one new. Will Sounddiver be able to pull the presets I have out of the Orbit-3 or will it be trying to scan for voices in ROM that normally should be present in an Orbit-3? There's a way to customize this right?

Subject: SPX 90 Adaptation
Message #14388
I have been working on & off ,on an adaptation for the Yamaha SPX 90. I can control all the parameters for programmes 1 - 15. It comes unstuck on programmes 16 - 30. Byte 38 is the problem.Programmes 1 - 15 use 00-0F for the algorithms. Programmes 16 - 30 use 10 - 1E. Due to the transmission format (7BIT HL:- DCBA 987 -6543210) ,it does not appear to be able to go beyond 0F. Other transmission formats do not appear to work. Is there a work around this problem ? This is my 2nd posting. Regards

How do you know that the transmission format is 7Bit HL? The user manual is very vague here. Which dump type do you use, LM__8332M or LM__8332T? Does the dump request work? AFAIK the SPX90 has only a MIDI Thru connector, so I wonder what a dump request message is good for. I wonder why the 8332M message has 78 data bytes, as programs consist only of 6 parameters. And why has the 8332T message 129 data bytes, as it should transmit the contents of 15 programs? Have you found out a dump structure? -- Beste Gruesse - best regards, Michael Haydn - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dipl.-Inform. Univ. Michael Haydn mhaydn@... Message #14392
O.k Michael, Thanks very much for responding. The adaptation i'm using is a "continuation" of the existing Soundiver Adaptation. The Bulk Dump works fine. There is TOGGLE SWITCH in the SPX 90 which changes the THRU to MIDI OUT. The Transmission format is used in that adaptdation. The Bytes used in a single dump is 39 (which is half of 78). I guess the Program numbers s/be MEMORY numbers (having looked in the manual),so i should have said MEMORY numbers 16- 30 are the problem. To access the parameters,i have just used offsets by looking at MIDI MONITOR for a single dump & applying accordingly. That said,a lot of it is trial & error, but 1 -15 do work. Perhaps the MEMORY numbers are the key ! Any suggestions ? Regards

Michael, I should have added, there are 11 parameters on some of the MEMORY numbers 16 - 30. The 8332t is for a complete dump.8332m is for a single dump. The MEMORY numbers correspond 00 - 1E in Byte 38. ie: MEMORY number of SYMPHONIC is 0F,10 is GATE REVERB etc. (But loops round to 00) For the record BALANCE is BYTE 17,OUTPUT LEVEL is BYTE 19 (or 19 & 17 from memory) Regards

hello, I was wondering if anyone had managed to figure out an editor for the Oberheim OB12? I noticed a thread last July....... Does anyone out there know how to successfully dump all the Banks & Timbres? I've tried the sysex dump in to Logic at various speeds & it won't reload them. I've also tried the free editor on OB12.com which looks very nice but only does single patches. It hangs when I try to import the whole memory. The factory presets on OB12.com do load up ok from sysex. BTW I've used SD for about 5 years with around 30 differant synths but this one has me beat..... thanks F
