I like this notion, too ... I thought it would be cool if you bring up an editor/librarian window in Logic for external MIDI synths in much the same manner as plugin instruments are handled ... i.e. directly from the track in the Arrange or Mixing window ... > >Which is why joining the 2, sounds attractive and even relovutionary. >I think Logic definitely would win out the sequencer war with this >extra boost/feature. For Logic that would be great. But for people who work with another sequencer - or maybe no sequencer at all (like MAX) - this would be a downer. You would have to buy Logic just to keep editing your machines like you did before with SD. And what about the OEM versions (I own several of them)? Like SD for POD etc.? I saw that screenshot too, and I'm afraid that's the direction things are going - in general: less modularity, more control and a more 'streamlined' workflow around emagic/apple products. But perhaps I'm being too pessimistic here. Best regards, Christoph

Subject: SD disk not compatible with Ti-Book SuperDrive?
Message #13778
i can't get sound diver to authorise on my new titanium powerbook with dvd burner, when sd asks for the cd to authorise it starts the process but soon just gets caught in a loop and i have to power down. this process was fine on my older 667 ti-book which leads me to think the disk is incompatible. the disk is new so the version should be up to date. (SD 3) anyone have some other ideas? andy.

Thanks * Open the K5000 Device Window * flip out the "Special Parameters" area * there you can adjust the backup timeout. Set it to zero to have no backup. Note: this also means that any dumps you send to the K5000 must be manually backed up on the K5000 front panel. Otherwise you will lose the changes in the K5000 when you power down. The K5000 has two types of memory: dynamic RAM which receives the SysEx dumps and static dump from which the data is copied to dynamic RAM at power-on. If you make changes with SoundDiver, it's vital to copy from dynamic to static RAM when you power down the K5000. This is what the backup delay feature is for - after this delay, the backup is done automatically. Unfortunately the K5000 does not allow to do a specific backup of only the data which has changed; instead the entire RAM is backed up, hence the long time it takes. -- Beste Gruesse - best regards, Michael Haydn - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dipl.-Inform. Thanks, I'll ask Roland. Since my manual does list the single byte change messages, that's likely to be a firmware bug, as you said. Message #13791
Before I go there... I just want to take a moment to acknowledge Michael Haydn and the team at Emagic. You all are doing an excellent job. You are really changing the way I approach music. I appreciate your work. I am not expecting you to give me a time frame, a release or anything like that. All I want to do is publicly make an outcry for OSX support for SoundDiver. I hope that is a huge priority over there. It must be embarassing for Emagic to think of me talking to support engineers from other companies and telling them that not even emagic has OSX support for SoundDiver. I can hear the gears churning... if Emagic isn't supporting OSX with SoundDiver, why should we with our plug-ins.... Anyrate, I'm eagerly awaiting the transition. My OS9 system just went down tonight on a physically damaged drive... it pains me to think of having to rebuild it. Eagerly awaiting a truly comparible osX Logic experience. Bring on the SoundDiver.

This is a reply to #13790.
Hi, I looked at the manual again and checked SD's MIDI monitor. Is the parameter address setting in SD's U-110 adaptation alright? When I set Part1's Tone to Acoustic Piano 1, SD says: "F0 41 00 23 12 01 01 28 00 00 00 00 56 F7." This means that SD is tweaking U-110's address 010128H. This seems to be the address for Bulk Dump, and not Parameter Change. As far as I can tell from the manual, to change the parameter individually, the address 001002H should be used, instead. Partial Bulk Dump does not seem to work with U-110. I'd like to know how to modify U-110 adaptation's Roland Address setting, so that it uses Parameter Change Address when tweaking, and Bulk Dump Address when the whole Patch is sent. I may be wrong in this speculation, so any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Best, Sealed > Thanks, I'll ask Roland. Message #13794
This is a reply to #13792.
Hi, I read SD's programming manual and U-110's manual again. SD's "Roland Address" function uses short Bulk Dump instead of Parameter Change message. But as far as I can tell from the manual, U-110 expects the Bulk Dump to be at some predetermined length (a whole Patch, etc). That's why SD's U-110 adaptation does not work. There may be no firmware bug, as U-110 behaves normally as the manual states. Is there anyone who saw SD's U-110 adaptation work well? Please tell me on this list, and it will be a testimony of U-110 firmware update. The remedy would be: * Put parameter change messages to all the objects. Roland Address function is not necessary. This will take much time. Is there any way to do it faster? * Put "PAU" instead. This also take some time. I tried this with a slider and it worked, though editing takes much longer time, as every time the slider is tweaked, the whole Patch is sent. * In addition, display layout should be fixed. Currently, Attack Rate parameter is listed under the heading of "Release," etc. You may not have time to fix U-110 adaptation, but I appreciate any update. Best, Sealed > Hi, > > I looked at the manual again and checked SD's MIDI monitor. The responses I've gotten (to the same question) were thus: (nothing) So I guess the actual response is something like "don't hold your breath" ...hoping someone from Emagic proves me wrong... Subject: Anyone want a JV-2080 Library?
Message #13799
Hi All; I've got a SD Library for the JV-2080 that has 2382 patches in it. While it does include the factory set sounds and stuff from the Orchetstral Exp card, there's still about 1251 Patches I downloaded off the net. But the real advantage is that they're all sorted by category (or will be shortly). Shoot me an email privately if you're interested, as I don't read this group anymore. -Markus

If you want, lets talk off-line. ----- Original Message ----- From: <markusm@...> To: <sounddiver-users@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Thursday, January 30, 2003 6:33 PM Subject: [SoundDiver] Anyone want a JV-2080 Library? > Hi All; > > I've got a SD Library for the JV-2080 that has 2382 patches in it. > While it does include the factory set sounds and stuff from the > Orchetstral Exp card, there's still about 1251 Patches I downloaded > off the net. > > But the real advantage is that they're all sorted by category (or > will be shortly). > > Shoot me an email privately if you're interested, as I don't read > this group anymore. > > -Markus > > > > > > > Your use of Yahoo!
