hi there!
wondered if anyone might be able to help me solve 'the
mystery of the missing amt-8s' in sounddiver 3 (i've
tried 3.0, 3.04 and 3.05 on xp and all with the same
results)?
... i'm on xp, i've done some archive digging, done
the 1k buffer thang, had a look at all of the amt8
settings in win.ini (all of them are either 1 or 7)
but still i cannot get sounddiver to find them... it
can find my midi gear that's attached to them (and
then tells me that they're connected via the various
amt ins/outs) but the amt's won't display in the
set-up screen. on scanning for them the screen flashes
as if it has found them but won't display them at all.
manual scanning doesn't seem to work either! :(
thing is, i've got unitor8 control working fine... it
scanned and found them without any trouble at all! all
the drivers seem to be fine (they're the latest ones
from the emagic site) but sd is not having any of it!
if anyone has any ideas that they might have time to
share that would be muchly appreciated! :)
oh... and happy christmas everyone!
thanks
alanx

Michael, I have taken the liberty to modify the MKS-80 adaptation
somewhat. Uploaded to the files section of this list. You can use it
if you will.
Changes:
1. Separate entries(patch and tone) for the lookalike MPG-80 editor.
Still compatible with excisting entries (conversion tables added)
2. Now include the "Tune Request" feature. (the "F6"
message,
workaround)
3. New photographic icon wich shows the MKS-80 AND MPG-80.
Greetings, Bert Keizer.
Hi All,
after upgrading from 3.04 to 3.05, SD does not recognize my Proteus
MPS anymore. With SD 3.04 it recognized it as a Proteus at least.
All other midi-stuff works, also with MPS.
Any ideas, why this can happen?
Thanks in advance, regards, and merry christmas to all of you
Michael

Wow, I can't believe someone else here has an MPS. I have not tried
3.05 but I don't think I had much luck with 3.04 scanning. I've
always manually added my stuff.

Hello
Just to respond to this thread :
The Midi driver wrote by GEETHREE seams to be a GENERIC UNIVERSAL MTP
MIDI DRIVER for serial midi interfaces for MAC OS X 10.2.X
So far I have report from users saying it is working with :
- 1 Unitor 8
- 2 MIDI Time Piece
- 1 MAC Midiman
- 1 MIDI Time Piece AV
- 1 J L Cooper synclink serial
- 1 MidiExpress+ MT4
- 2 MIDI Time Piece II
So far, none of the people I have sent this MIDI driver have reported
problems.
To test more configurations I am looking for users having the
configurations :
- 1 and 2 Opcode Studio (the one that has more than 8 ports)
- 1 and 2 Opcode Studio 8
- 1 Opcode Studio 8 and 1 Motu MTP (I or II or AV)
- 1 Opcode Studio 8 and 1 Motu MTP + Emagic AMT8
- 2 Emagic Unitor 8
I have not wrote the driver it is Geethree, I am just the initiator of
this crusade :-)
I think that Geethree is giving us a wonderful Christmas present, thanks
again !
Merry Christmas
Cyril
I am very curious about this. I have been running SD 3.0.4 on XP for
about six months now. I did not have any idea (since it worked just fine)
that Xp was not actually supported by SD. Have some people not been able to
run SD on XP?
I use 1kb, and I believe that I have it set to 2 buffers (I'm not at my
little studio right now).
Thanks, Marc

Try dragging and dropping a patch from the main "Programs" window
into a
library, in XP it won't work. -Steve

Hi
Does anyone know if the Sound Diver OEM versions (I have a Yamaha FS1R
version)
work under Windows 2000 or Sound Diver 3.04 work under Win 2K.
I was using a Music Quest 8 Port SE and thought that might be the problem
so I changed to a new Super MPU64 (aka Edirol UM-4) USB Interface.
I have Updated the OEM version from ver 2.00 to ver 3 with the Patch updater
from the Emagic site.
Any help would be appreciated

Is it possible to use Logic Control with Sounddiver , it mentions
that it's possible in the LC manual and says to refer to SD
documentation, but I can't find it ?
Will there be an updated Korg Karma adaption that supports
Karma OS V2 ?
Installed SD 3.05 on my mac G4 DP 533. (minimum extension set)
Deleted old preferences and version 3.04
Here are my findings:
Scanning of my outgear goes VERY bad ;
SD can't even find my AMT8.
Also gear like JV 1080 and FS1R (which were scanned 100% in version
3.04) can't be found through scanning in 3.05... BUMMER :(
Manual adding or scanning the module for NORDRACKII gives a hard CRASH
of my mac...freezing mouse...BUMMER 2 :((
The module for Micro Q now gives strange error messages i've never
seen in 3.04 ;so it becomes rather unusable ... BUMMER 3 :(((
When in AUTOLINK mode with Logic 5.5., SD looses ALL midi
communication with the AMT 8...so makes SD unusable even more...BUMMER
4 :(((((
I'm a SD user for about 3 years now,(really knows all the ins and outs
of it), i have a well optimized system and this is what i get after
waiting about a year now for this NOT AT ALL WORKING miserable update.
And to make the pain alittle harder: still no official news from Apple
and/or Emagic about an OSX version coming up ; Michael keeps his mouth
shut after several emails..
Thanx but no thx for all this crap.

I keep reading about scanning problems and can not understand why
you guys bother with it. Under the setup window, go
to "New" / "Install...", select the module/device you
want, and
hit "ADD". Then set up the In/Out ports that the device uses on
your
AMT or whatever, set your midi chn and your done. Once you do this
for all your devices you should not need to be messing with it until
you buy a new synth. Yeah scanning should work better but its not
that big a deal. BTW I'm using 3.05 on an off the shelf DELL 1.4 P4
running WIN XP with many devices hooked up through a Unitor 8 Mk
II/AMT 8 pair with no problems. Life was never so good since I
dumped my MTP-AVs although I understand they work better with a Mac.
I hope this helps.

Hello All,
I have just installed Sounddiver 3.0 (made it recognize my D-50)
and copied the Atari files to a DOS formatted disk and then copied
them
to my Window 2000 PC file system.
Now that I try to load them into Sounddiver for transmitting them
into my D-50
I run into trouble. What are the right steps to import an alien sound
library into Sounddiver. Sounddiver is supposed to know the Gerdes
file format I thought.
When I open Library and choose a *.D5P it comes up with a error
message:
'Sounddiver has to be endet. It caused a Windows Error'.
Regards
Hans
Hi Hans,
Have you tried the <Import> function? (Rather than <Open> )

Hi Sealed,
I also had a problem with the TG500 adaption: Voice Edit did not work
however Performance Edit did. The reason is a bug in the TG500
adaptation which you can change yourself (however I'd make a backup
of tg500.ada before - one never knows).
Here we go:
- Enter the Edit mode for the adaptation.
- Move to the Bank driver section, click the triangle of the Edit
Voice entry so that the list drops down.
- Look at the Single Dump table (the one after Single Request). It
should display hex-code 68$ at offset 05 (this was the case with my
adaptation). This is wrong, you should change it to 67$ and then save
the adaptation. Now Voice Edit should work.
The explanation is this: Open a Midi Monitor in SD and enter the
Voice Edit mode in the TG500. Now you can see in the Midi Monitor
what the TG500 dumped out. I compared this dump byte-by-byte with the
dump definition in SD. Offset 5 was the only place where both dumps
were not identical. Try the same for performances, you will see that
the SysEx strings completely coincide.
There is still another issue with the adaptation (at least in SD
2.1.3 for Windows). When you now proudly load a voice into the
editor, you will (very likely) observe the bizarre envelopes of
the "Cutoff Scaling" in the Filter EG section and the
"Level Scaling" in the Amplifier EG section. They definitely
do not
display what's in the TG500. It's best not to touch them in
SD if you
don't really have to. When editing them in SD it often happened
to me
that the TG500 suddenly did not output any audio signal any more. I
had to restore the scaling settings manually and only then I could
proceed! And so I became used to the TG500 menu jungle which I wanted
to avoid by - yes, by buying SoundDiver!
Hope I could help you and other TG500 users a bit.
Regards,
Peter

Sometimes you need scanning to determine the firmware of your device, which
will determine other things like support for expansion roms.

To determine the firmware should be an user-option. I have a
MicrowaveI with the 2.0 firmware. Every time when this module gets re-
installed, I have to go to the same procedure again, I mean
connecting midi-cables. I don't like this. But I also mentioned this
same problem a long time ago. Never has changed since then...
Greetings, Bert Keizer.
I'll start with a little sucking up and say I am am quite satisfied
with SD 3.05. I'm using it with my FS1Rs, Wavestation, E4, and
Andromeda (librarian only - bring on the editor or at least let me
edit the patch names - Collin)
If Michael Hadyn is reading this, there is still a minor problem
(although it drives me nuts) with editing the Korg Z1 effects. When
selecting the mod source to control the balance of the effect it
selects the wrong controller. For example if in FX 1 with Chorus as
the effect, selecting the Foot pedal for the freq/mod source
actually selects "+Y" as the source when viewed in the display on
the Z1. This is true for all mod sources within the effects. Mod
sources selected through out the rest of the pages (filters, amps
osc etc) work correctly.
I reported this directly to emagic a while back but it appears to
have slipped thru the cracks.
I am using a dell 1.4 P4 with Win XP and a Unitor8Mk 2/AMT8 pair.
The Z1 is ver 1.02
Thanks for your attention to this and for continuing to provide a
great editor program.
3.05 seems to work just fine on my Mac system.
I can't see that I have gained anything though. There are
supposed to be some updates to the Triton adapation, but other
than that, it seems like a long wait for nothing.
Everything scanned fine and seems to be working fine. Again my
only complaint is with needing more of my equipment supported.
Boss GT-6 : If the GT-5 was worth doing, why not this much
improved model?
Korg Karma: Well, enough has been said about being only OS 1
- that is kinda pointless.
Would like to see in OS X beta soon as I start to convert my
studio over. Still think that some kind of "adaption wizard" that
could help users a little more setting up there own equipment
would be great. On some gear, I don't need full editing in SD, if I
could just use it as a librarian to give patches a description and
load and save them, it would be awesome.

If the Patch names are displayed in the Device Window they also can be
edited. Click an entry, then choose "rename" in the entry menu (or
hit the
appropriate key command).

Apparently it has slipped indeed. I'll look into this soon, however since I
have no longer a Z1 or the documentation it might require a bit of
additional information then (like the full mod sources list). But I'll
definitely look into this since it indeed doesn't sound like a big deal.

This may be true for your specific situation, but we got a much larger
number of new modules and adaptations with 3.05. Of course, if one doesn't
own those modules it's a bit pointless indeed...

I don't know, maybe it's the generally inferior SysEx implementation in
many Boss devices? Apart from that, why don't you give it a try creating an
adaptation yourself?

The Karma module was written by Korg directly. I agree that having a module
for the "old" OS version is a bit pointless. Maybe this will
change.

But that has been part of SoundDiver since the beginning. Just download the
Programming manual from the web site and you can go ahead creating
adaptations. It's really not that hard.
Is there really just the GT-6 and the Karma OS-2 missing for you or do you
have other devices in mind, too?

Well, I have tried that. While I do programming in my job, and
understand midi farily well, I didnt get very far. The manual is for
an earlier version of SD and the examples given are so different
than what I am trying to configure that it didn't help much. Maybe I
am just missing something.
If you want to give me a hand or point me in the right direction,
that would be great. I would really love to be able to put these
together myself.
I asked Michael if he thought it would only take some tweaking to
convert the GT-5 to GT-6 and he thought it would not work -
seemed like that would have been a good place to "jump in"

I agree. The programming manual is showing its age now. An updated
version would be nice, such as an index for start. I am constantly
jumping thru the manual, looking for something I saw somewhere.
