I don't think that Active Sensing (or the absence of it) is the problem. This message is optional and everything should work fine with or without it. Ingo

How about Unitor8 MKII<>AMT8 chain, can this be done, or should one power the last unit in the chain from the adapter since power is not supplied via the RS422 port? Thanks for any info. Subject: [OT] Logic Network suggestion
Message #12686
Hi Michael, Sorry for the OT post but I unsubscribed from the Logic list. As you porbably know Steinberg recently proposed VST system link whereby 2 or more computers that are networked together can have 2 lotsof Cubase running and one computer can be designated a kinf of VST synth slave while the other computer runs cubase and anything else needed. Although intypical Steinberg style their implementation is a big kludge it got me thinking. With Logic 10.2 the introduction of Rendezvous has really revolutionised the ease of setting up a Mac network and making all the macs aware of eachother. So, I was wondering. would it be possible in a future version of logic to enable two or more computers to be designated as virtual plug-in racks leaving the main computer to concentrate on the sequenicng and recording. In OS 10.2 there are already folders marked VST so would it be possibly for Logic to navigate to the VST folders on other Macs on a network and use them as if they were running all on the same computer? The outputs from the VST plug-ins would be fed back into the host Mac via Ethernet and would basically mean older macs coudl still be pressed into useful service. I hope you follow what I am suggesting and that this coudl be made possible. If so it would further stomp the pulp out of cubase :) Kind Regards, Spike _______________________________________________________________________ Freeserve AnyTime, only £13.99 per month with one month's FREE trial! Subject: SoundDiver CD authorization failed
Message #12688
Does anyone have any information on what to do with a CD that has passed several other authorizations but is now failing? I am the original owner of the CD with the original computer and same operating system (Windows ME) that was in place when I originally installed the software. Now the CD will not authorize. I suspect this is another reason why emaigc is giving up on this platform-too many bugs in the software that they have built. I have found all of the rest of their software is basically untested and full of gross errors and faulty bugs. Makes one wonder why they ever entered into the ballgame. Of course the customer service in North America is non existant. My several emails to to emagic go unopened and unread. I guess corporate irresponsibility is not just an American phenomena. Seems the more customers an enterprise obtains the more cavalier the attitude of shoving it to the customer.

Nah, this happens all the time on the Mac version as well. Usually it just means trying it a couple times, maybe a cold reboot inbetween. Have you tried anything like that? I haven't had it happen in over a year (when the last update was released probably) so I can't remember what exactly I did in that situation. But I remember it being somthing simple like what I mentioned above. Just a thought... Colin Miller

I don't know if this will still work on the OS that you are on (it did work in Win98) but try the following. Find a file named aspienum.vxd and rename it aspienum.vxd.bak. I believe that the file is in the WindowsSystem folder. Start up SD and put the CD in when it asks you to re-authorize. It should authorize it for you. Rename the aspienum.vxd.bak file back to its original state. I don't know if this file changed in subsequent OS versions or not. This is the trick that I always used with great success when I was on Win98. HTH and good luck, Fernstudio

Are you sure you haven't changed anything in the system, especially installed an ASPI driver? There are some ASPI driver versions which don't handle CD read errors correctly. >I suspect this is another reason why emaigc is giving up on this >platform-too many bugs in the software that they have built. >Does anyone have any information on what to do with a CD that has >passed several other authorizations but is now failing? As someone else mentioned, try cleaning the CD. Also, what condition is the CD in? Has the surface been scratched? I get shocked how people I know treat CD's. Even people in the computer business, who should know better, take no care whatsoever. I'm not saying you have mistreated your CD, I'm just saying that a lot of people do. I guess a lot of people think it doesn't matter if the surface gets scratched. Sure, the CD spec includes some error correction, but the safest course of action is to keep the surface pristine so the error-checking routines aren't needed.
