Hello
I am a newbie. This may be a Logic question.I am having problems
acessing exp patches on my Roland 2080 in Logic. When I am using
Autolink should'nt I be able to do this? Any tricks when I am not
using
Autolink?
Thanks

Hi John,

A big reason is due to the software piracy that goes on today. While some
people may dispute this, I believe that piracy has never been higher because
of the internet. Prior to just a few years ago, I did not even realize that
there were such things as crack versions. I knew about copies of disks and
CD's but not actual cracks. Now, even if you're not looking for it, it
practically comes to you.
>Oh, you're right - there it is - page 224 - plain as day. How did I ever

Again related to the above. A lot of people on the list do not answer the
most basic of questions (this is one of them) when it can be found in the
manual. Again, people who have paid their hard-earned money for software
and bought it legit hate seeing someone get a free ride. With the rise in
crack users on both the Sounddiver and Logic lists, I spend less time
answering questions and so on for that very reason.
If you haven't found it yet, it should be quite easy to find. You'll
probably find it in the section where it explains the particular screen
you're looking at (ie the Library list or the memory contents windows). I'm
sorry but I don't have the manual with me to give you a page number.

Hi
I am also trying to dump my MKS-80 sounds into Soundiver 3.0.4. Pardon
my ignorance but how do you actually send all those SYSEX messages from
the computer to the module? Is this done within Soundiver or is their
a special program I can download. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I checked with the Windows 2000 task manager. When SoundDiver
indicates that it is out of memory,
30 MB of real RAM are free.

Just found a problem:
I create a new Performance with the following:
Part 1 uses I2 #18 Lately Bass
Part 2 uses P1 #82 Miles
Part 3 uses I2 #9 Strobe Bass A
When I try to store the performance in a Library, part 2's data is
not stored. So, the Perf shows that it Uses Lately Bass & Strobe Bass
A (no mention of poor old Miles).
If I look in the EX5R device window, however, and select the new
perf, the "uses" column on the left DOES show all the sounds.
Also, if I recall the perf from the library, Miles is back! (so the
data was stored but "invisible")
On further investigation, it seems ALL the sounds in the P banks
don't show in a library (if a perf is dragged to a library window),
but they DO show in the "uses" column of the device area.
Very confusing and frustrating.............

Not exactly. If I recall correctly the P banks are ROM banks. No use
putting them into libraries since they can't change at all.
This behaviour is similar with all other modules with ROM banks.

Yes, that's true. So, not a bug at all... and not very confusing either

Hi,
I'm glad to announce that the makers of PSP audioware (
http://www.pspaudioware.com ) have offered us a nice deal on their
plugin packages! What's on offer: PSP MixPack and PSP StereoPack. Both
packages are available for Mac and PC.
PSP MixPack consists of: PSP MixBass, PSP MixSaturator, PSP MixPressor
and PSP MixTreble.
As the name of the collection suggests, the plug-ins which make up part
of this series are specifically for use during sound mixing. However,
the quality of the algorithms employed also allows them to be used in
mastering. A demo version, as well as audio examples, can be downloaded
here: http://www.pspaudioware.com/download1.html
PSP StereoPack is a collection of VST plug-ins for PC and MAC. The kit
consists of: PSP PseudoStereo, PSP StereoEnhancer, PSP StereoController,
PSP StereoAnalyser. These plug-ins are applied for creating, expanding,
improving, controlling and analysing the image and quality of the stereo
signal in single tracks or mixes thereof. A demo version, as well as
audio examples, can be downloaded here:
http://www.pspaudioware.com/download1.html
PSP MixPack and PSP StereoPack packages got rave reviews in Recording
Magazine, TDM Magazine, KEYS and received the title of 'Ultimate Buy'
from Computer Music, the title of 'Our Choice' from the Estrada i
Studio.
On top of that, PSP has just released v1.5 of the MixPack which ads even
more functionality!
The deal:
Both packages for the price of:
$100 if >= 10 packages sold (about 20% discount)
$88 if >= 20 packages sold (about 30% discount)
$65 if >= 30 packages sold (almost 50% discount!!!)
The normal price is: MixPack 100 USD + StereoPack 24 USD = 124 USD.
So once again we can use the power of the group! The more packages we
buy, the less we pay!
The deal is available for 3 weeks, starting today. This means it's valid
until 20 June. Payment and registration happens in the week after that.
How to order? Just send an email to BOTH of these addresses:
logicusers@... and joeri@...
In case there are any further questions, feel free to contact me at
joeri@...
Bye,
Joeri
Note from myself: I've been using these plugins for a while already and
I'm highly impressed by their quality and functionality! The
StereoPack's correlation meter is the ultimate phase-metering plugin for
me. I use the other plugins of the StereoPack for detailed manipulation
of the stereofield. Sometimes I use it on individual tracks and
sometimes I use it on the master. The StereoPack is the ideal solution
for mixing and mastering things for vinyl imo! The MixSaturator is my
favourite tool for "warming up" tracks and giving them that
"vintage"
sound. The MixPressor is a compressor with completely different
characteristics than Logic's internal compressor. Very, very nice! Both
packages are a powerful extension to Logic's internal plugins! This is
of course my personal opinion. Feel free to download the demos and
hear/try for yourself!

Guess why? Child entries in ROM banks are not stored, because this is
not required.

Yes, the dependencies to ROM entries are shown, but not used when
copying child entries.

No, it was not stored. Simply the link in the performance was saved
and recalled unaltered.

Why frustrating? You did not lose data, and the library file size
stays small :-)

We are aware of this. The Virus module was developed by a new
external (but still excellent) developer. He simply forgot to change
the default implementation of AutoLink name providing of the example
source code he used to build the Virus module to the required code.
He is currently working on this.

Hi all,
I installed SD 3.04 last night. I use SD always in combination with
LAWP 4.7. So I first start LAWP and then SD. If I select the proteus
2000 track in LAWP and play a few notes on the keyboard, I can hear
the proteus 2000. If I go to SD and double click on a patch, the
patch window is opened but if I press some keys, I can't hear the
proteus anymore. I can see that the proteus is receiving the midi
note information because the green led is binking and the double
clicked patch is chosen by the proteus, only there is no sound. If I
go back to Logic and press some notes the proteus will sound.
I tried different settings for channel and thru information but no
results. What could be wrong?
Thanks for any replies on this subject.

Does it work with SoundDiver stand-alone?
I have the suspicion that the wrong MIDI channel is used for MIDI Thru.

Hi,
does anyone else have the same prob? When I'm in Autolink mode and
editing a MS2000 patch, after a while both Logic and SD freeze and the
sound hangs. Sometimes I can still save the patch, other times I can't.
It only happens with the MS2000 in Autolink mode; my other synths work
fine. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi, Joeri. I'm very interested in the MixPack, but not particularly
interested in the StereoPack. If I could get the whole thing for $65, I'd
do it, but how does this work? I wouldn't want to commit to buying the
whole package, find out only 10 people are doing it, and have to pay
essentially full price for what I really want.
Is there a way to commit but to say I only want to do it if we get the $65
price? Since I'm not really all that interested in the StereoPack, I
wouldn't want to do it otherwise.

Libraries are also used to save setup data.
In the Setup window, choose "New > Build Library" and one of
the
sub-menu items, depending on what you want to save. It applies to all
selected devices. If no devices are selected, you are asked if you
want to go through all devices in the setup.

I just got a bunch of .SYX files for my JV-2080, each of which
represents a single patch. Using 3.0.4 for Windows, I chose Open from
the File menu and selected the first file. I get the little message
about "suitable devices" and then choose to have it create a
Library.
No problem there, I've got a new Library window open with the one
patch in it.
According to page 266 of the manual, I should be able to choose that
patch and then choose Insert File from the Library menu. In the
dialog box that opens, I choose another of the .SYX files and hit the
Open button. At this point, the patch(es) in the file I chose SHOULD
appear in the Library I just created, but nothing happens.
The window closes, I end up back in the Library window and there's no
new patch listed. At first I thought it was because I was choosing
an SYX file and not a native LIB file, but the manual indicates
that "foreign" files will be automatically converted (while it's
referencing Polyframe files, I'm assuming SYX would be included as
well).
Any tips?
Thanks,

Frustrating because I didn't understand it. In knowledge, there is
power and contentment.
I must say, I don't care too much about library size. (Storage is
cheap). I'd rather be able to see all the used patches in a library,
rather than have to open a perf in the edit window to see what's
really going on.
Perhaps in a future version, there could be an option to
enable/disable "Save Child patches in Library".

Ummmm, no. If I drag a JV2080 perf into a lib window, all the patches
come along too, whether they are in the User bank or the Preset
banks. I suppose I'm used to this behaviour. As I said above, there
is a reason for putting them in libraries. Also, perhaps one day,
there will be a software version of a JV2080 or EX5R, then it would
be very important to have all related data in one place.
Thanks for the replies - what do you think of my suggestions?

I have upgraded to WinME and have been trying to get SD 3.04 running with no
luck. I am using a USB midisport 4x4. It is working fine with Sonar but when
I attempt to use SD, my pc freezes up and I must do a complete reboot. I
have the latest drivers installed for the midi interface and WDM drivers for
my Delta 1010.
setup: PIII 800 320ram, Delta 1010, Sblive, Midisport 4x4, Nvidia 32meg
video card.
I have tried reinstalling SD 3xs already with no luck. I get an error which
says something like, pci error bus on device 0078h, or something like that.
