Forum Index | Read SD: Policy/Rules Messages Threads Digests | Post New Message | Search! Hi there. I'm brand new to this group and this software, so please
forgive any redundancies in subject matter. I have SoundDiver 2.1.3
for Windows. First, whenever I try to install a new instrument, say
a Roland SC-55, the software crashes. I don't have a manual BTW. Is
there a newer version of the program. If so, does it support the
following synths: Hammond-Suzuki XK-2, Kurzweil K1200 (oldie

troubleshoot, but a leg up with this program would be most
appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

The FIZMO contains a bug, rendering SoundDiver's scan function
unusable. You must add the FIZMO manually.

SoundDiver 2.x: yes:
SoundDiver 3.0 requires a Power Mac and Mac OS 8.6 or higher.
SoundDiver 3.0.2 also works with Mac OS 7.6.1

You probably have a MIDI driver installed which has a bug in its
SysEx handling code. SoundDiver 3.0 would inform you about this when
launched the next time. To make SD 2.1.3 work, disable all MIDI
drivers in file C:WindowsWin.ini, section [SoundDiver] (by changing
then ending of all lines in this section from "=1" to
"=0"). Now
re-enable every port one by one to find the offending driver.

Yes, the current version is 3.0.2, however the 3.0 upgrade is not
free. Please contact your Emagic distributor for details.

Only the Micropiano is supported, but this already since version 2.0.

Regarding the EX5, make sure you have the right version 1.05 or higher.
VL70-m: do you have a connection from the VL70-m back to the
computer? As the VL70-m has a soft-thru feature which cannot be
switched off, this might confuse SoundDiver.

That sounds great! Will the module for K2500 also be updated to match

Wow, this is awesome. Danke schoen, Herr Haydn!
In the abscence of an editor for the Boss GT5 guitar effects processor in
SoundDiver (hint, hint) I have been running a PC editor under Virtual PC on
my Mac.
Having got all to run smoothly and Midi ports found, I am getting a
"check-sum" error when I try to send patches back to the GT-5.
Apparently this does not happen when the editor is run on a real PC under
Windows.
Can anybody tell me what a "check-sum error" might be, or why this
might
happen with an emulator running.
Many thanks for any help at all.

You have to update to DAE-DIRECT I/O-OMS DRIVER- 5.1 to be able to use SY /
Sex with the
DIGI 001. Digi says that this issue has been fixed but I did not try it
http://www.digidesign.com/download/
The only thing is that on digi's site they do not give all the 5.1 drivers,
there is one
missing !!!!!!.
Normally to get all the 5.1 drivers you must update to 5.1 but the driver
that is missing is
easily available on the web.

Huh? VL70-m and VL1 are not compatible.

Michael,
Good to hear that your future plans include support for the plug-in boards.
What about CS6x/S80/S30 Performances? Do you plan to include support
for the plg cards in a Performance? Even if I couldn't edit the PLG cards
native "board voices" through SoundDiver, it would be a great
convenience
to be able to create and edit Performances which include PLG cards. As I
understand it, the PLG cards show up as a Part in your Performance, and you
can edit certain parameters, which are offsets to the parameters on the
board itself. These are the parameters I'm talking about. These
parameters are part of the Performance, it would be greate to be able to
edit those, even if we couldn't edit the plg native board voices. This is
separate from the PC/Mac issue.
Regards,
Richard

Hi,
Can somebody help me with VL-Sounds.
I own a PLG150-VL card which is compatible with the VL70-m.
I downloaded a lot of voices in formats like 1bk, 1vc, all, avc,
sng, xcl.
For some of them I have also the software.
But most of these software can't transform these files to sysex or
mid, which are the file-types I can use.
I know some of the sounds could be created on the VL1,
but as far as I know it should be quit compatible with the
VL70-m if version 2 software was used to create those sounds.
Or am I wrong on that ?
At least any help, tips, utility, or adress is welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Joris
Hi all,
Could use some help. Here's the setup:
SD Mac 3.0.2 (also tried 3.0.1)
New Virus SD Module, downloaded from Access, last modified March 1,
2001, 1,994,409 bytes on disk
Unitor 8 MkII
Virus b 4.02
Trying to get banks of sounds, build libraries, etc. Selected
various entries, from all to banks, and did "Request".
Communication
appears to happen fine, progress bar moves, but when communication is
finished, no patch names are visible in the entry areas, not gray
names, not anything. I am able to load the M@ library, and transmit
voices to the Virus, where they show up in the virus, and also show up
in the SD device entry bank. I have other devices working fine. Any
idea what might be going on?
Thanks in advance for any advice on getting it working.
Casey
Greetings!
I'm in my third day of attempting to get the software to recognize my
Proteus modules. The technical support line at Emagic could not help me,
and suggested I join a user group. I could not find out if the modules
that I have are too old to be compatible with SD. I have seen postings
about the Proteus 2000 that seem successful. If anyone could advise me,
I would be most grateful.
A. Can't Scan.
I have tried Sounddiver 3.0, 3.0.1, and 3.0.2. The last version, 3.0.2
crashed, and I was advised to go back to an earlier version. None can
communicate with my sound modules properly. If I try "Scan All", I
am
told by SD that I have four Proteus, two cabled to my computer, and two
not cabled.
If I chose "Proteus" from the list of scannable modules, and
choose
"Scan", I get the same result. Sometimes I get different ID
numbers for
the machines.
B. SD 3.0 was eventually successful at scanning, but left out several
banks of patches. On the sound module, I would manually send MIDI data
to my computer, "user presets", and "factory presets",
and saw banks
that were printed in faint type suddenly become bold, meaning the
software was accepting the banks that it had missed during its automatic
scan.
Nonetheless, banks covering patches number 192-383 were inaccessible on
the Proteus 1/XR, and 128-191 on the Proteus 2/Orchestral. Is there a
way to get every patch recognized?
C. Is there a way to configure the software and the sound modules so
that the sounds can be played by the keyboard while editing goes on. The
'Audition' and 'AutoPlay' functions send one note of a particular
octave, and doesn't allow enough of a range to truly gauge the impact of
editing changes.
Any advice would be appreciated. I purchased the software to save me
some time editing, and after three days of trying unsuccessfullyl to get
it to work, I am about ready to throw in the towel.
Thank you. Billy

A checksum error is a hint that some data has been transmitted
incorrectly or not at all.
Probably the emulation is not that good that the MME MIDI driver can
send out MIDI bytes correctly to the MIDI interface.

Dear Michael
I checked my EX5 driver, It was 'unknow version'.
And the one that available on EMAGIC website is the same.
Where can I get v.105 module.?
Oh I'm running 302 Mac version.
Getting help for VL70m from Ingo. Thanks

I think you have a general problem with your MIDI interface. Let's
first figure out this. Try the "Loopback test" features in the
Options menu to check the reliability of the MIDI interface.

The function you need is called "MIDI Thru" and can be enabled in
the
Options menu.
