It does not support the newest feature effect chaining in K2500 KDFX.

Is an ISA-card with MPU-401 and a MT-32 compatible synth. I just can't
seem to get this one to work in SoundDiver 3.0. The Sysex looks fine,
but the card won't respond to handshake attempts. I've tried every
Device ID, including 17 - the one suggested by the manual.
Suggestions?
Is there a way that sound diver can save the instrument names in the
setup window without having to always request special names each time
I start SD?
Also, I am experiencing note dropouts on my P2K which from what I've
read, is an OS problem. My question is: If I revert to version 1.11
from ver 1.21, will I need to do a new Install? I'm running Win98se
and SD ver 3.02. Is the pro module in Sd compatible with the P2K w/
ver. 3.02?
thanks in advance. Orlando.
hello,
This isn't the first time this has happened but now I'm locked
out from SoundDiver completely. I double click on SD it says my
Authorization has expired,I insert my 3.0 disk,click on continue,it
says it's checking but doesn't find my cd...actually it looks like it
checks the hard drive. I tried putting the CD in my cdrom and cdrw
and doesn't find it at all. Now I can't use SD...plese help.
and imho I really hate the authorization thing altogether so this is
a real waste of time. Is there any way to save this on your hard
drive & not to go throught it again & again...every week?
1 question...a Drumkat what generic module works for that?
Thx,
GM

Setting "Save device entries in prefs file" to "All"
should help.

You will probably have to remove the P2K from the Setup window and
re-scan it, so that the P2K module knows the P2K's version number.

Mac or Windows? If Windows, try swapping the DOS drive letters of the
drives.

You should get a warning message after 5 weeks, and it will then
expire after one week. You don't have to reauthorize "every week".
>1 question...a Drumkat what generic module works for that?
For all unsupported devices you should use "Generic SysEx". In
contrast to "Generic", every SysEx message is saved to a separate
entry, so you can adjust the send pause between the single messages.

Well, blue is my favorite color, and every blue is not the same. The
blue Q & Supernova look so cool, and I always liked my blue AN1x. I
never said that the AMT itself looked ugly. It looks ugly in my rack
because most of my rack gear is black.
Hi Michael,
I hate to be a bother but I'm generally having trouble understanding the
SoundDiver Manual again. Today I decided to establish the
"autolink" between SoundDiver and Logic Audio Gold (windows.) I
followed the instructions as outlined on page 358 of the SoundDiver manual.
First of all I did not hear the "plop" sound described in the
manual.
Under section 10.3 it says that whenever Autolink is enabled SoundDiver uses
Logic for midi input and output. It then says I can check this in the
"preferences" window. So I went the Windows menu and clicked it. I
found no window entitled "preferences" listed there. So what ever
the preferences windows is, it is not a window in the sense of
"device" or "library" windows. I then clicked on every
menu item across the top of the screen to see if I could find a listing for
"preferences" somewhere. No luck. There is also no reference to a
"preferences" window in the manual index or in its table of
contents.
Now I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for this, but the
bottom line is this: Emagic, in it's manuals, continually assumes that the
reader will know what it's talking about when it makes references to things
like this. But I don't know where the preferences window is and this renders
the explanation on page 358 completely useless to me. More importantly it
stops me dead because I can't go any further in my attempts to master the
program until I solve this problem. And this is the second such problem I've
had today, the other being with the Logic Audio Gold manual! I had six hours
free today in which to work on mastering these programs and I accomplished
almost nothing.
Never in the 16 or so years that I have been dealing with computers have I
had more trouble understanding program manuals. I'm working in isolation
here. I have no one local to whom I can turn for help. I need a clear manual
that does not assume a level of knowledge that I don't have. But the Emagic
manuals are continually doing just that!! I have a master's degree and from
that you can assume a reasonable level of intelligence. If I'm having
trouble with this, it's safe to assume that a lot of other people are too.
The traffic on the LUG list proves this in my opinion.
I have a good friend who is a local recording artist. When I told him a year
or so back that I was planning on setting up a home studio using Logic, he
just shook his head. "I'd need to take a year off from my music to do
that," he said. I now know what he was talking about.
Emagic needs to hire proof readers for their manuals who are not familiar
with the program and not particularly computer oriented. Only then will you
find out how clear these manuals really are.

Hi Paul,
I'm the author of the Q adaptation. I've tried several times to get the
Autolink working, but I have no way of checking as I do not have Logic (no
pun intended). I have modified it again as recently as a week ago, to make
sure you have the latest.
If you like, email me offlist and I can have you check/change a few settings
to see if this can get worked out. Oh, and let me know which Q you have.

I've never managed to get any sys-ex responses from my LAPC in any kind of
software,
so I strongly suspect that the LAPC is incapable of sending sys-ex to the
computer. The other way
works OK however, so you should be able to run ordinary (no handshake) dumps
TO the LAPC.

This shouldn't happen at all. Once you have requested the ROM
instrument/preset names, these are stored in the preferences, so when you
re-start SD, you don't need to request them again.

Yes, you will have to delete the P2K from the setup and re-scan it when you
change from 1.11 to 1.21 and vice versa.

Thanks, but......
Tried that already (and reinstalled v3.0 as well) but the problem
persists.
Also spent some time disabling various bits and pieces in the device
manager to see if that made any difference.
It didn't
Looks like I have to wait for 3.0.3 :(

Michael,
I have a Dual-500 G4 w/G3 Stealth and driver v1.03. U8 is one of the
more recent units, i think rev3 (but not MKII). OS 9.04 / 512MB Ram
Recently acquired SD 3.0 (now 3.03) and updated my U8 firmware from
1.29 to 1.31. Was having trouble getting communication between SD and
my K2000 (SD apparently but K2000 not responding--possibly unrelated)
and looked in the MIDI communications prefs and noticed that the MIDI
interface prefs shows the "fast" box unchecked and SD refuses to
allow
me to check this box. The same thing occurs in U8 control v3.
Also...the red LED on the Panic/Patch light seems to frequently stay
solid red, no matter how many times I press this button. Repeated
attempts to turn the unit on and off sometimes make it go away and
sometimes repeated attempts to disable and reenable the port in
software sometimes make it go away... But it's stubborn and likes to
stay red these days.
Curiously, LAMP 4.61 does not have this problem and fast mode works
fine and the red LED goes out when I launch LAMP. However, with Logic
already booted and then booting SD and attempting to double-click on
a
device to open it's contents immediately causes a crash with the
message "Please tell Emagic how you did this, etc." SD does not
crash
when Logic is not booted (well maybe it has a couple of times, but
not
under those circumstances ; ) )
This problem occurs with most extensions off except the Stealth
driver.
Any ideas?

Hey list!
I recently purchased an Emagic AMT8 midi interface. It worked alright
for a few days, but then things started getting fu**ed up (Logic only
found half of the MIDI ports on the AMT).. So i decided to reinstall
the drivers and Sounddiver.
Now Sounddiver can't even find the interface. When I click on Emagic
AMT8 and do 'scan all' i get the normal error message:
"No new devices found. please check MIDI cables and Devices"
I've connected my AMT8 to the computer (which is a PC) on the COM
port. The unit 'works' according to control panel >> system >>
devices, but no MIDI software can find the AMT ports.
When I search in Sounddiver, it appears like Sounddiver only search
through my soundcard's MIDI ports, and not the computer COM port! I
have a Creamware Pulsar2 soundcard which is connected to the AMT8
interface (to control the synths/samplers from creamware)...
What do I do!?!?
I'm pretty sure this isn't a hardware problem. And reinstalling the
drivers doesn't seem to help either. I even reinstalled Windows, the
soundcard and everything else but nothing helps :(... I'm really
desperate to get this working, lots of deadlines coming up
Please help!
/Jacob
Now I've discovered at least why the K2000 is not operating with SD. I
don't know what I did but for some reason I've been able to get SD and
Logic to coexist now peacefully (at least for the time being). Maybe
because I'm using a song now that's not my autoload (?). Here's a wierd
one though...
No matter what port I set the K2000 to, the U8 LED indicates that SD is
sending sysex to port 3 and *only* port 3. It matters not what port I
set the K2000 to in the parameters box! SD is always sending sysex to
the K2000 out of port 3. It is receiving fine from "any" but the
K2000
is on port 2 and I got everything to work by swapping the U8 to K2000s
to port #3. However...MIDI thru to the K2000 (notes, CC data) continues
to adhere to the port selected in SD (i.e. #2) !!!
My other 4 modules (D4, W/S AD, SY99, 01/V) work just fine.
-Dan Alvarez
Since upgrading to Sounddiver 3.x the following modules stopped
working:
Yamaha ANx1
Access Virus
they do not appear in the Installer- List.
Roland JV-2080 crashes!
So I go back to V2...
PM 9500/G3-400, MacOS 8.6 or 9.1, 256MB, AMT8.
Regardss Holger Engel.
I just received my Sounddiver 3.0 and have hit a snag in the setup. When
trying to scan, I get a prompt saying it doesn't see my USB midi interface.
It asks for either printer or modem connections. I am currently running DP
2.64 with a USB MOTU Express XT on a G4 running 9.1. How do I get SD to see
my XT?

You need to use OMS. SoundDiver supports in native mode only the Emagic USB
interfaces.
I have no idea if the FreeMIDI OMS simulation will suffice, though.

thanks...Orlando.
I continue to have problems with SoundDiver 3.0.2 (Mac version), the
MotorMix, and controller assignments. Here are some observations:
-As previously mentioned, it is impossible to make controller assignments
via dragging from the MotorMix window to the FS1R editor because of the
IILEGAL INDEX messages. I have found, though, that these messages do not
appear when making controller assignments in the Microwave II editor, so
apparently the problem is somehow specific to individual editors. The
following comments apply to the Microwave II editor.
-The text labels for the MotorMix faders that appear in its LCD when
assignments are made are lost when SoundDiver is shut down and then
restarted. The assignments are still intact after restarting, but the text
labels are not drawn in the LCD. However, the parameter name and value that
are displayed when a fader or knob is rotated do work correctly.
-If I assign a MotorMix fader to control the Decay parameter of the Filter
envelope, the fader jumps back to its previous position after I move it. I
move the fader, the parameter is updated correctly (I can see the envelope
changing in the editor), but after I release the fader, the Decay parameter
jumps back to its previous value and the MotorMix fader jumps back to its
previous position. None of the three other Filter envelope parameters
exhibit this problem, nor do the Amplitude envelope parameters. Since this
happens with only this one parameter (although I have only assigned about a
dozen parameters so far), I assume it is a problem with the editor and not
my MIDI connections, etc.
I would be interested to hear from anyone else who is using a MotorMix with
SoundDiver, and what sort of experiences you are having.
