Hi all,
Last week I started with Sounddiver 3.0. So for me the most important
thing is to create one huge library with all entries from different
devices in it. So after installing all my devices and request all
entries per device I tried to build one library by selecting all
devices and build the library. After building the library I saw only
two devices in the mixed library. So my workaround was select a
device, build a library for that device and then insert the different
libraries to a new library. Is this a bug in SD 3.0? Another question
is that while building a library for a particular device SD is
requesting entries again for that particular device while I requested
them a few minutes before. What's exactly the difference between a
preference file and a library file? After closing SD and starting it
again, opening a device, all or some parts of the entries are grayed
out, so I have to request them again did I something wrong?
Thanks for any replies on this subject.
Mark Hofland
Does anyone know if there are plans for modules for these devices?
Can I use the Proteus XR module with the Proteus FX?
Also, I also have SD POD and SDJV1010, can I just drag their
respective libraries into the Libraries folder for SD v3.0?
Thanks!

Greetings. I have just installed Sounddiver 3.0 for Mac on my G4,
and didn't get very far before I had some problems. My setup is:
AMT8
Alesis Quadrasynth Plus Piano
Mackie d8b (I'm not trying to do anything with it through Sounddiver,
but it's there)
Emu Pro/cussion
Alesis DM Pro
Yamaha TG500
Waldorf Microwave XT
Lexicon MPX500
Lexicon PCM91
I also use Logic Platinum, but so far I've just tried to get
Sounddiver set up on its own, not using Logic.
When I did my scan, Sounddiver found the AMT8, the DM Pro and the
Microwave XT without problem. On the QSPP, it gave me a message
about finding an unidentified QS device and asked me to choose one.
However, the choices were Nanobass, Nanopiano and Nanosynth, and mine
is none of those, so I chose cancel.
It did not find the TG500, Procussion or either Lexicon at all. I
did manage to manually install the QSPP and successfully downloaded
its contents into Sounddiver. I also manually created a TG500 and
Procussion.
But I was unable to download the data from either the TG500 or
Procussion into Sounddiver. With both, I get a message saying the
unit is not responding to Sysex. I've looked at the device IDs, and
also fiddled with the pause setting to no avail (and yes, they're set
to the proper ports). The devices all work fine within my Logic
environments, so I don't think it's cabling or any settings on the
AMT8.
On the Lexicons, neither unit has a module/adaptation. Do I try to
use one that's close (i.e., MPX1 or PCM90) or what?
I apologize for the length of the message, but this is my first try
with an editor/librarian program. Maybe I'm overlooking something
obvious. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Irwin
Hi,
Is there any way to get version 2.13 to work with a
NS5R ? I'm thinking of buying a used copy but there
are no drivers for the N synths/modules. I didn't
find the relevant updates on Emagic's site.

Hi,
I've just received SD 3.0 and there's a few things that don't work the
way they're supposed to. I'm sure I'm getting something wrong. But the
manual doesn't exactly help either.
- Autolink: How do I save the patches I am using in a Logic 4.5 song in
a SD library? Logic's key command sets the SD button in the task bar off
flashing and creates an empty library. That's all! The same happens if I
use SD's command (according to the instructions in the manual).
- P2k: After requesting everything that's stored in the Proteus the
Multis are not displayed, and cannot be edited. What's wrong here? This
was possible with SD 2.x and P2k 1.01, even though it crashed the
Proteus badly. (My P2k has got firmware version 1.21 now.)
- P2k: Is it normal that requesting the unit's memories takes more than
30 minutes? Bloody hell, this would force me to save all entries in SD's
prefs, and never to touch the Proteus again!!!
Thanks for your help. It's appreciated!
Cheers,

I don't have SD 3.0 yet, but I know P2k os 1.21 changed the Multi's
and f*cked it up. Check SD's web site to see if there's an updated
P2k module...They were working on one.

I don't know about 30 minutes, but it DOES take a long time for the
P2k. But there's lots there to download... I do it once and try to
work form withing Sounddiver to keep everything sync'd. Also, you
can just request a single bank or single patch even if you changed
it with the fornt panel of the P2k...

Hi all,
I'm just in the process of beefing up the VL70-m adaptation. The big
number of keyboard scaling parameters which are missing in the original
version means that the Instrument editor window is getting *large*...
Did anyone else try to complete this adap? Any suggestions?

Go for it, Ingo!
Sorry I can't help...
I have troubles with the Studio 4 MIDI communication. I made a test with the
nice new feature "Schleifentest" in SD 3 and after the
transmission of 1024
Byte the test stops with a message of missing one Byte.
I own a Mac B/W 350, OS 9.04 with the Stealth serial port (driver version
1.03) and the Opcode Studio 4.
I tried to run the Mac standart extensions with no change.
Could it be a problem with Mac OS 9.04 or the Stealth extension 1.03 (1.02
don't work with OS 9.04) ?
Thanks for any advice.
Have a nice New Year
Erich
Hello all,
Is anyone out there familiar with how to amend the SD adaptation so
that it will work with SNII as a librarian?
I believe it works fine with SN I but with the SN II a data request
leads to SysEx data being sent but nothing appearing in the Memory
Manager (Banks A-H and the Edit Buffer).
Thanks & all the best for 2001

I'm the author of the original Supernova adaption and
I'm sorry to tell you that the SysEx support from Novation
is _very_ limited... however, I would imagine that the core
command structure is the same. You might try to change
the SysEx device ID to the Supernova II and look if the
command codes are the same. If this is not the case,
then you could as well ditch the adaption and write a new
one from scratch :-/
Novation has been promising to release SysEx information since
1998...
Maybe my old document ("SysEx codes & structure of the Novation

you're interested.

I just bought a second hand copy of SoundDiver for the Atari ST, but
I'm having problems installing it on my harddisk. Perhaps I'm just
confused because of all the disks and manuals and I'm doing something
wrong, but I can't figure out what.
Basically, the problem is that I can't run it without having to install
the original "disk 1" which probably contains the key.
This is what I have:
*6 Emagic disks marked "Sounddiver v. 1.5e" along with the serial
number
*6 disks (made by the previous user) with an update to version 1.57e
*9 disks (made by myself) with an update to version 2.06e
(downloaded from the Emagic FTP site which was directed
to me by this list).
*1 Mac/Atari ST Soundsurfer manual
*1 Mac/Atari ST Sounddiver manual
If I'm not completely mistaken, "Soundsurfer" was the original
program
which only had librarian functions, while it was later replaced by
"Sounddiver" which included that AND editor functions, correct?
I guess the previous owner had bought "Soundsurfer" first, then
upgraded to "Sounddiver" later on.
As for installing the program, I get an error message when in the
"install" menu (install to harddisk). When selecting
"Sounddiver" among
all the various modules etc. (after having selected the path for the
harddisk) I get the following message:
--------------------------------------
You have already installed the program.
You will need the master disk to run this copy.
[OK]

What am I doing wrong?
I've also tried installing from the 3 various sets of disks, not
knowing if I can install the latest version directly, or if I need to
update 2 times from the original. Nothing seems to help.

Ludwig, I've had this problem a couple of times. For some reason the MPX-1
is susceptible to other manufacturers' sysex data and sometimes ends up
getting itself in a mess. There is a solution however:
1. Power on while holding down the "store" button (screen will say
"d")
2. Hit edit (screen will change to "0")
3. Turn the dial until it says "2"
4. Hit "store"
It will then re-initialise the system software and you'll be back in
business (although you may lose your user patches).
The adaptation in SD 2.1.3 works fine for me, haven't received 3.0 yet.
Good luck
Harry.

I set up a little transformer environment for my RM50 in Logic, so in
the program change box, when I select bank 0 it selects the preset
kits, bank 1 selects the user kits and bank 2 selects the pitched
voices, with the actual program number selecting the actual
kit/voice. All the MIDI data is there is the manual, so you just use
transformer objects to ofset the relevant bank numbers.
That's the beauty of Logic - it's easy to set it up to how you want
to work.

SoundSurfer was the cheaper librarian only version, SoundDiver was
the more expensive librarian + editors version. (There exists only
SoundDiver now).

The original owner has either a) lost his authorisations on his
computer - this happened to me. I sent the master disks back to
Germany and got more authorisations, but within 5 minutes of
reinstalling the new authorisation it had been lost again due to an
installer bug. I couldn't be bothered to keep sending disks back to
Germany so I just leave the SoundDiver master disk in the floppy
drive permanently.
Or b) he didn't transfer his authorisations from his hard drive back
onto the master floppy before selling the program - in effect, he
still has a usable copy on his machine.

hi,
i'm trying to make SD 3 learn all the panel from my microwaveXT,
while some control such the cutoff work fine, some are totally
unusable.
Osc 1 when edited from synth panel is displayed from +3 to -3 instead
of +4 to -4, correct value are sended if the fader is moved from
sounddiver.
Osc 1 semitone : doesn't go to positive value, jump from 0 to -12
i didn't checked any after this
MicrowaveXT is version 2.33 connected to the AMT8.
Thanks
SoundDiver destroyed my Axon NGC-77 too... I had to send it to the factory
for a new EPROM. This was many months ago.
