Are any MotorMix buttons or LCD panel screen planned >on having any functionality in SD 3? Yes. Following features are already implemented and working (for CM Automation Motormix and Radikal Technology SAC-2k): * Assignment of controls below the LCD is automatically shown in the LCD. SoundDiver intelligently shortens the parameter name so that it fits into the few display characters. If the short name is still undesired, you can edit it manually. * All controls can be assigned by drag-and-drop: motor faders, non-motor faders, encoders (which send relative value changes), rotary knobs, buttons. * Feedback of all controls which display the current parameter value: * motor faders * encoders with LED "corona" (e.g. in SAC-2k) * buttons with LED, even if they have more than two states, e.g. multiple or multi-color LEDs or flashing * The value transmitted by a control can modify the parameter directly, relatively or scaled (7 or 14 bit to parameter value range) * An additional scaling parameter allows various options, e.g. a button which decrements the parameter by 5 instead of incrementing by 1. * Multiple assignments can be made for the same control * Multiple assignments can be made for the same target parameter * Assignments can be made for different devices and/or edit buffers. When the active device or edit buffer changes, the assignments change as well, including update of LCDs and control feedback. Following features are planned for 3.0: * switching between assignments using an "assignment set" (similar to screen sets). Switching can be done by a key command or a MIDI messages * switching to a certain assignment sets which contains only assignments which refer to an edit buffer which is played on a specific MIDI output and channel. This output/channel belongs to a certain track in Logic's Adaptive Track Mixer. Switching to this track is done by a certain MIDI message which selects this track (using the track select and bank switch buttons on the Motormix or SAC-2k). * which assignment is displayed in the LCD can be configured (Motormix: either encoders or faders) * Display of the current parameter value in the LCD while editing > >3) Will EMU Orbit (v1/v2) or Korg N1R be supported in SD 3.0 (as they >have been supported in MidiQuest 7 since ages) N1R: yes. Actually this is another difference between Modules and Adaptations: Modules can tell SoundDiver that the device has multiple edit buffers for the patches in performance mode. In this case, dependency management goes to the edit buffers instead of the memory locations when they differ. Therefore, saving a performance saves the edited versions of the patches instead of the original ones. This feature will be available for Adaptations probably in the planned major revision of the Universal Module. -- Beste Gruesse - best regards, Michael Haydn EMAGIC Soft- und Hardware GmbH SoundDiver Group Executive Logic Windows Developer Unitor8 Control Project Manager

Actually, this will *not* do the job. The only way to convert DX patches to FS1R voices is the following: - install both modules in the setup - open DX module Memory manager - load a single patch into edit buffer and transmit DX edit buffer (to FS1R) - switch to FS1R Memory manager - request FS1R edit buffer SO it is probably only useful when converting a handful of patches; but certainly not when converting hundreds. I find that EXTREMELY disapointing! April 1 ??!! I bought 60 days ago week of 3/1 and got CD# A923189-01. I promptly upgraded to 2.0.10r1,then 2.11, then 2.12 in less than 8weeks for problems. Now, 3.0 is coming out and I'm not even stable yet. I've had to d/l the 33meg cd from the website just as a starting point for each and every system crash it causes. So now, I have to shell out $40 for an U/G + probably $20 to swap CD's? How about at least a 90 day warranty period to cover recent sales? I love the app when its stable and wanted the freshest version when its available. I have a P2K and Cubase, so I bought solely for this, and the last 6 weeks of upgradeing has involved my ONLY synth and seq. the whole way. I still cant run S/D and cubase together. I either need more help or a break on the new version in hopes it cures my problems. morphyx ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Haydn" <mhaydn@...> To: <sounddiver-users@egroups.com> Sent: Friday, April 28, 2000 2:49 PM Subject: Re: [SoundDiver] SD 3.0 > At 15:22 +0200 19.04.00, SBS.TBleicher@... wrote: > >if you buy now you are AFAIK entitled to receiving a free upgrade to 3.0 > > To be more precise, SoundDiver 3.0 will be free for all users who > have bought 2.x on April 1, 2000 or later. > > -- > > Beste Gruesse - best regards, > > Michael Haydn > EMAGIC Soft- und Hardware GmbH > SoundDiver Group Executive > Logic Windows Developer > Unitor8 Control Project Manager > >

I to find it disstresing that there is a fee for this new upgrade. From the first time I tried to use SD with LAMP I have not had any success in getting these two apps to talk to each other (I bought both on the same day). Then as recently as 1-2 weeks ago I had been told that there has always been a communication problem between LogicAudio and Sound Diver, and that the NEW 3.0 ver. (Due to arrive soon), has finally gotten it together in the communications department. This is really great news, but it raises the question, "If Emagic has been aware of this problem (which I beleive it has) should there not be some sort of compensation to its users for beta testing ( not to mention the enormus amount of frustration trying to make something work that just doesn't)? Oh, I have an idea....give it away to those first time users who came onboard at version 4.0. It might make up for the lack of some sort of manual. I like manuals particularly current ones. When I get really good at an application I use the tome to help teach others. I don,t care much what form it takes just give me my manuals (up to date Please) thank you. To not provide some sort of help aid is not very nice. I was told when I got 4.0 that emagic was working on the 4.0 manual and it would be made available soon. Needless to say I stopped waiting for that BS bus to round the corner anytime soon. I love reading, I like knowing, some of us are just like that.

Hi Lorenzo, > From the first time I tried to use SD with LAMP I have not had any success in > getting these two apps to talk to each other (I bought both on the same day). This might be true for you (and me ;-) but obviously there are a lot of people who really use AutoLink every day and for whom it works fine. Concerning the upgrade fee: Version 3.0 contains a lot of new stuff, great graphics and some functions that make it much easier to use. I´ve seen it in Frankfurt and really like it. From my point of view around DEM 79,00 (which equals about $39) is not too much for such a great update. There have been lots of improvements throughout previous version and I really don´t care paying this less money so Emagic can continue creating great products like SoundDiver and Logic. And by the way: Logic 4.5 _IS_ for instance a free update which improves sooo many things that Emagic should charge for it. So from my point of view, the update policy is fair and keeps development running. > I like manuals particularly current ones. When I get really good at an > application I use the tome to help teach others. You are right and it´s of course sad that the manuals are not quite up to date. However, as far as I can see, development has rapidly changed things so much that it´s actually hard to keep manuals (printed ones!) up to date. Personally I prefer to get all the new software stuff first (as soon as possible) - rather than having to wait until a new manual is written, printed and available. > I was told when I got 4.0 that emagic was working on the 4.0 manual and it > would be made available soon. Needless to say I stopped waiting for that BS bus to round the corner anytime soon. The manual for Logic 4.0 is out since a loooong time now. It can be ordered from Emagic or from your local dealer. It´s surely not Emagics fault if you don´t have it yet. > I love reading, I like knowing, some of us are just like that. True :-) I love reading manuals, too (definitively the printed ones and _not_ PDF guidebooks!) All the best Thomas
