So all is well in my getting names from the Akai S5K and I'll start playing around, probably, with editing parameters, etc.. There is one weird thing, though - the dump coming back that includes the name is variable in length. That's working fine. However, at the end of each name I'm getting back question marks and random characters, followed by the length of the dump. Is there a way to defeat this or am I doing something wrong causing this? The manual does mention that the length of the dump is at the end of the data, but I'm wondering what all the other junk is since that junk is definitely not in the message back (I've triple-checked in SoundDiver and Logic - the dump ends with a null characters at the end of the name, no interceding junk characters). Thanks for any advice.
