Subject: [SoundDiver] Trying to bring back Sounddiver on PC, help, please!
Message #17580
Hi, I have a Windows ME machine I'm in the midst of migrating to Windows XP, I'll skip the story as to why finally...anyway, basically I have 2 partitions, one for ME and one for XP, on the machine. I (apparently foolishly) uninstalled SD from ME, with the authorization disk in my floppy drive, but it never made reference to whether it needed or updated that. I went over to XP, and installed my SD 2.1, and when I went to run it, it didn't ask to even check the authorization disk, it just comes up with a popup box with some strange characters that I can't even replicate and under that "Result Code = -1" with the options proceed/quit. If I proceed, I get another popup just saying "Result Code = -1" and if I proceed again, I get the message SoundDiver has encountered a problem and needs to close. etc. If I click for more info, it indicates: AppName: sounddiver.exe AppVer 2.1.1.0 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00000000 A longer dump is available if anyone is interested. Obviously, Apple doesn't support the old PC products. Any ideas? I am running the program in Windows 95 compatibility mode, I should note, and also tried Windows 98/ME compatibility mode. I realize it may not run under XP at all...and I'm open to any other suggestions as to how to leverage my old SD library of sounds going forward (replacement programs for the PC, whatever). Thanks much.
