I read it as you have not yet earned anything and therefore cannot pay anything. I've been getting paid for audio work since 1968. Along the way I have learned that the essence of "spec" deals is that one should not expect to get paid, because worldwide the number of those deals that actually get money to the engineer is less than one in a few thousand. So, you are offering nothing concrete, no money whatsoever. If you have the track record to think this will pay off, then you have already earned the money to pay an engineer up front. If you are unwilling to do that then you have little confidence in your project. All FWIW. -- ha

Yea, if I had $10 for each time I did this over the last 23 plus years, I'd have a nice bundle of cash. Spec deals rarely ever work out. I suggest if you are going to take a job like this, that you do it with the opinion that you are going to get some experience, rather than waiting for the cash... Heck, after the Cd gets released, and the costs are recouped, and there is some money to actually go around, I'd still not expect to see anything. And I signed some what looked like pretty good investments in my time... to see the writer and publisher get something, and me nothing. This would work for an intern, looking to maybe make a contact or 2... Just my 2 cents.
