Hi everyone,
When bouncing I sometimes get error file already exists error = -48.
This message comes irregularly.
This is a real bug, please answer if anyone has come across the same problem
and how you worked around it !
The file is written, you can even write an audio Cd.
The problem starts when you want to use it in the Windows environment.
Windows does not recognize it as a wav file but rather as a raw file.
Definitely something wrong with the file.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks.
Peter
Mac Pro 2,66 / Logic 7.2.3
Yes, I have this error too - again it seems to cause no problem and
because I don't use the windows environment I had not spotted that
particular problem. I would agree it is a definite bug but I've been
unable to reproduce it at will
Not much help I know - but solidarity..
regards
Steve

Yes, I've been getting this same message too but only
recently. (G5 2x2, OS 10.4.8,
LP 7.2.2). I posted about it here 2 weeks ago and got
no response at all.

I have a dual G5 2x2 as well with Logic 7.2.3 and OS 10.4.9. I've been
getting that message
forever. It seems like I get it (most often) if an existing file is used by
the program and I try to
overwrite it.

Not sure about the original poster but I am not
referring to files that are being overwritten. I get
this message everytime I try to mix and bounce a sub
out. Even if its the very first time.

Try bouncing to a different folder.
I had this a couple of weeks ago and it seemed
to me that there may be a temp file (or files) created
when bouncing, when trying to bounce a second time
Logic (or OSX) can't write to the temp file.
Anyway, bouncing to a different location fixed the problem.

I take it that you're trying to bounce to your audio disk, not your
system disk, right? Have you tried checking "ignore permissions"
in
the "get info" pannel of that disk/partition? Just an idea...

I've had this problem for a long time (since early v7.2), even when I
start a new song and try it save it, I sometimes get the same error
message. I'm using Logic v7.2.1 on OS10.4.9
I just kept hoping it would be fixed. It's not as though Apple ever
reply to your problems.....

Any change Spotlight is indexing while you're seeing this error?

Update here. I just finished a project and every bounce (almost all were new
files) to create
stereo masters was accompanied by the error message. I don't recall this
being so
consistent. I do have my default set to BWF.

Were all of the bounces to the same folder/location?

Yes I'm writing to a separate disc and no, "ignore
permissions" is not checked. What is the "logic"
behind your hunch?

I remember having all kinds of problems, which in the end appeared
permission related, and checking this seemed to have fixed it.

Yes they were. Non-system drive, one dedicated to audio.
Doug
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your replies !
The most important things to remember I guess :
- writing to another folder
- disk permissions
Cheers,
Peter
