We have several things to tell you, and thought it'd be better to put them in a single email and cut down on your holiday e-clutter in your mailbox. First, this month's Pluggo-the-Month was a little late in arriving, but it's here now. December's Pluggo-the-Month is beatN, a quick and easy calculator that does the math for figuring tricky tempo, sample, and memory calculations. We think you'll find this really useful - which brings us to our second bit of news. We're a little late with the Pluggo-the-Month because we were working on something else - Pluggo 2.0. New features in Pluggo 2.0 include: - MOTU Audio System (MAS) support - host synchronization with clients that support it (Digital Performer 2.6 and above, and Cubase 4.1) - plug-in MIDI input and output (in Cubase 4.1, input only in Logic 4.1, and Digital Performer) - a new data entry method in the plug-in interface, plus typing numbers into certain interfaces in Digital Performer - revisions to a number of plug-ins to support synchronization features - two new MIDI-based plug-ins, a synthesizer called Laverne and a modulator called M2M that lets you transform MIDI into parameter modulation data - revised Max/MSP development materials including five new tutorials. (Unfortunately, we couldn't quite finish these, and we'll be releasing the final development manual within a few weeks). If you're a registered Pluggo user or a Max/MSP owner, you can either download the free Pluggo 2.0 upgrade from our website at http://www.cycling74.com, or you can use our on-line order form to have the Pluggo 2.0 upgrade with its real printed manual and snappy CD-ROM sent to you for $25 plus shipping. If you do order online, we'd like to ask you to avoid clicking the "order" button on the Pluggo order page twice if things appear to be a little slow (given the buzz attending the release of 2.0 from the MOTU camp, that may well be the case). This will keep you from being charged more than once for your order, and none of us want that. We will fix it, of course, if the e-commerce elves fail you. Check out the January issue of the US magazine Electronic Musician-- Pluggo won the Editor's Choice award in the plug-in category. Finally, if you know anyone who wants to get into Max/MSP, there's a special offer until the end of the year. If you're a subscriber of the Electronic Music Foundation (EMF), you can get $100 off the price of the Max/MSP bundle until 12/31/99. People who are not subscribers can join for $100 and then receive the discount on their subsequent Max/MSP purchase. We think the EMF is a valuable resource worth supporting--check out their web site at http://www.emf.org.
