I feel like an idiot but I have had problems with this since I started using
Logic. Ill import a loop of drums and when I try to make it fit the tempo im
working on I cant get it to do so. Recently I was messing around with it and
I changed the loop pitch and length but the original wav has been
permanently changed. I would appreciate any advice on this cause I would
really like to know wtf im doing wrong.

Since Apple Loops and "follow tempo audio" was introduced I have
almost stopped using that old Pitch n Groove Machine of Logic's. As
you're saying, it writes any changes destructively to the audio files
and I don't like that for loop library files. From what I remember I
wasn't very successful in hitting the correct loop length for the new
tempo either, in the P n G Machine. It seemed it didn't calculate
correctly so I had to type in a slightly different tempo than the
actual to get near ;-)) oh those memories... Instead of going into
that old ghost part of Logic you can simply make an apple loop copy
of the loop and it will automatically adapt to your tempo (details in
the manual).
BTW I'm a big fan of PHATmatic pro in Logic. Even though the the AU
Manager doesn't pass it and that it's now a discontinued product the
PMP works great for me when needing to have a loop played back to a
different song tempo. It also provides some funny audio mangling
options. If I need to do some advanced groove quantizing I use PMP,
otherwise I just stick with Apple Loops.

Hi, If all you're trying to do is fit a drum loop to bar or locators (loop
points L&R) and
you're using Logic Pro 7.x, there is an arrange page menu item that could
solve you're
problems;
either;
(Arrange Page Menu)>Audio>Adjust Region Lengths to Locators
or
(Arrange Page Menu)>Audio>Adjust Region Length to Nearest Bar
Beneath that is an additional menu that allows you to choose an algorithm
appropriate to
your needs (Universal/Complex/Percussive).
Hope this helps, Mike

Hi Per,
I pretty sure phatmatik hasn't been discontinued and it authorizes fine for
me. This product
(and iDrum) have been taken on by izotope and for more recent updates you
should talk to
them. Coincidentally they do their own algorithm for time stretching in
logic (he says
struggling back on topic!)

Ok. Thanks for the note! I stand corrected ;-)
