Hi
I have been using logic platinum 5.5. for a year or two and after changing
my pc recently I am having problems.
I am running windows xp pro with sp2.
I have 2 hard drives-80 and 160gb and 2 gb of memory.
I also have a creative sb live drive and sound card.
I am getting an error message 10 seconds into the playing of a track
"error
while trying to synchronize audio and midi. sample rate 39397 recognized.
check conflict between logic platinum and external devise".
I have moved my firewire card so its not at the bottom of slots(advice
online) and that hasn't made any difference.
I have adjsted midi settings in song settings and no variation makes any
difference.
i have checked the soundcard is functioning properly and it is.
Any idea how I could resolve this as my hair is gradually disappearing with
it being pulled out.
Thanks

John,
Did you try disabling the the MMC in synchronization.
Option>Settings>Synchronization--uncheck "listen to MMC
input". Also try
changing the Audio Sync Mode in the Audio tab.
You might also try settting up your system using this link

Good luck,

I have an almost identical set-up and still use Logic 5.5. A few
years ago I was running a Sound Blaster LIVE! card and box and had
the same error, and a series of similar errors - I ditched it and got
an M-Audio interface and haven't had a problem since! Since a similar
device to the SoundBlaster is less that £100, why not take the
opportunity to ditch it? A new unit WILL solve your problem once and
for all, has better ASIO drivers and can be genuine 24/48 quality.
Good luck!
Joe.
Sorry to say so, but running Logic through a Soundblaster, even if it's just
the "outdated" Windows version, is throwing pearls before swines.
I will never understand how someone spends several hundred bucks for a
sequencer, just to run it through a 10 bucks soundcard which doesn't even
come with decent drivers.
As has been said, an Audiophile or something along the lines will work
beautifully and cost less than 100 bucks these days.

I was going to agree, this time the "error while trying to
synchronize audio and midi" error is most likely due to the SBLive
drivers.
Are you using the EASI driver setup and have you run all of Logic's
secondary programs. The EASI setup and The PlgInEnabler?
Not sure which version of the SBLive you're using but check and see
if ASIO drivers are available. If you're not using low latency VSTi
try the EASI setup.
Last: Go to the synchronization setup and deselect some of the
default "Auto" settings as well as the MIDI clock settings.

Make sure the setting for the clock is the same for the interface as it is
for Logic's internal sample rate. It's possible even in Logic 7.2 to have
the internal setting at a different rate than the hardware is running at.
IE Logic at 44.1K and the hardware at 48K etc. Been a while since I ran 5.5
but I think you'll find the sample rate setting under the audio pull down
list. That condition will cause the message you're getting.
