Hi I'm new to this forum and farily new to logic. I'm running 5.5 on PC and
have 2 gigs of RAM available. I'm currently working on a track and I have
alot going on as far as audio files open and one audio instrument file open.
Out of the the 24 audio files I believe I have patterns in about 22 of the
files. My track is almost complete but everytime I try and add a new audio
file and/or audio instrument and input the files in place of where I want
them in the track. I'm getting a pop up saying not enough memory. Then it
states undo history will not be available.
This is very discouraging(sp?) because I need to add just one or two more
audio files/ instruments to the track to complete it. Is there a way to
prevent this memory error from occuring? I know it's not my hard drive as I
have enough memory it's only in logic that this is happening.
Any help would greatly be appreciated!
Thanks!!

Logic PC is several years old now, it does not understand more than
1 Gig memory.
Modifying the system.ini may help, copy paste the text below to your
sysyem.ini file and reboot.
[vcache]
MinFileCache960
MaxFileCache960
------------------------------------------------------------------
And also this-
------------------------------------------------------------------
I have subsequently found that the most efficient way of switching
between setups is to add an extra line to the boot.ini file (I'd only
recommend this for advanced users, I don't want to risk messing up
anyone's PC!):
Under '[operating systems]' in boot.ini, I now have:
'multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition" /fastdetect' (no quotes)
This is the normal setup with 2Gig RAM.
But the next line is:
'multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP for
Logic" /fastdetect /maxmem24'
The 'maxmem' part is added automatically by msconfig. But by having
*both* lines in boot.ini, you are given a choice when you boot
between the full RAM system (for general apps) and the limited 1Gig
one (for logic).
I'll be interested to hear how this works for people -- please ask if
anything's unclear.
Regards
Iain
