Hi all, Anyone using Akoustik Piano and L7? The reviews for it were slightly better than Ivory but I just wanted to make sure there weren't any issues with is and Logic. I've heard that Ivory works pretty well? Thanks! Judith Gruber-Stitzer film composer Montreal

I'm still blown away on the sound of the 4 pianos in it. Ivory is good too, dont get me wrong, but for my cup of tea Akustik really added to my bag o' tricks Good Luck Ciao Gio

I have been using Ivory for about 2 years now and love it. Since it sounds like you have used Ivory and Akoustik, could you give a more detailed explanation of why you like Akoustik better. Sampletekk's Seven Seas Grand and TBO are also worthy of consideration (Yamaha C7). The Seven Seas Grand has become my "go to" piano because it is exremely versatile, can handle many treatments of EQ and compression with aplomb, and sits in a mix really well. I also really like playing the ArtVista Virtual Grand, very emotional, but my engineer is bothered by its phasing.

Sure can! I used Ivory for the passed year and when I played Akoustik it just felt smoother. I feel the samples from piano to Forte(pp-ff) are more transparent and uniform. In Ivory for some reason I feel is "harder" sounding when you bear down on the keys. a certain brightness thats hard to control also happens with the Ivory. Even fiddling with the eq its either too dull or too bright Another thing I that feels different (not bad or pejorative) is the sympathetic string resonance, I feel Ivory's resonance a bit synthy (synthetic-ish) while Akoustik seems 'rounder' of sorts with the resonance. Now, to cover my ass, I've made some SLAMMIN' tracks with Ivory. Lets say that its paid the electric bill for the coming year, so I cannot knock it. Perhaps I just got used to the sound for the passed year or so, so getting a 'new' sounding plug might have me all jazzed up. Another thing I dig is the sound of the Bechstein Piano. An in between of the Bosendorfer and the Steinway. Those are my some of my 'excuses' for liking one over the other, but they both are nice to have. Have you tried Akoustik? Let me know what you think. Ciao Gio

I have not tried Akoustik, nor have I listened to the demos. I find MP3 demos hard to do comparisons. I have been doing far more live piano recording recently than synth piano. We are lucky to have a Kawai Performance Grand full time in the live room (7 feet). Thanks again. Dave Shirk Pamlico Sounds http://www.pamlicosounds.com

I listened to their demos - but what a cool thing. They let you DL the Midi files as well. So I DL'd several of then - plopped them into Logic - and listened to the Ivory pianos playing the same songs. No way to compare in a meaningful way - but fun. Dave Shirk Pamlico Sounds
