Subject: [LUG] How do I Route Reaktor Effect outputs into Logic audio track?
Message #221821
Gear: Logic 6, Reaktor, M-Audio 18/14 interface. Problem: I am using Reaktor to process audio. I am playing samples from my sampler, running them through effect ensembles/instruments in Reaktor whilst that is in standalone mode and then into Logic to record on an audio track. Problem is its not working. This is the set up i am using to do this. Routing: 1. Sampler outputs into Audio interface inputs 1-2. (In M-audio controller these inputs are routed to outputs 1-2). 2. I have Reaktor in standalone mode and have effect instruments as an ensemble. In the preferences of Reaktor i have inputs 1-2 set to -M audio interface inputs 1-2. I have the Outputs of Reaktor going to m-audio outputs 1-2. I also have the physical cabling/ routing of the effect instrument in the structure window configured like this: ins 1-2 outputs 1-2. So Far then sampler outputs going into interface inputs 1-2. Reaktor Inputs set to audio interface 1-2. Reaktor Outputs set to M-audio interface 1-2. 3. In Logic I have an audio track set to inputs 1-2. When i record arm the signal in this track is the ORIGINAL signal from the sampler WITHOUT the signal/effect processing from Reaktor. WHY?? In the M-Audio interface I have this MIXER configuration : Analogue 1-2 in routed to Output 1-2. Analogue 3-4 in routed to output 1-2. Can anyone suggest a really simple way of acheiving what i am after. To recap: a signal from my sampler> effect processing in Reaktor>Recorded onto audio track in Logic. I know this seems like a complicated explanation but any help would be extremely grateful. Cheers John

Perhaps I am missing something very obvious, but why use Reaktor in standalone mode in this case? Wouldn't it be much simpler to use it as a plugin in logic, and route the audio through a logic stereo input to reaktor? Come to think of it, why not record the audio into logic first of all and then do everything internally in logic? BTW, exactly which version of logic are you using? There were several versions of logic 6 - platinum, gold, audio, then came pro and express. In logic 7 express there are no input objects, so if this would be the case wth your version of logic, you would need to record arm a stereo audio object corresponding to your M Audio unit. kind regards Mark

Hi John, I wouldn't happen to know why things aren't working in your setup, but why don't you just use Reaktor as a plugin in Logic? That way you could apply all it's doing to whatever input easily. Regards Sascha

Unfortunately when i insert Reaktor as an effect plugin on an audio track (and have the audio already recorded from my sampler on that track) i constantly get the message "error 39". Somethings wrong but Logic doesnt know what!! By using Reaktor in standalone mode and channeling the audio through the intrerface, Reaktor then into Logic everything seems to work better with far less crashes. I am only running a 1.6 G5 so processing power is at a premium!! Bye the way I am on Logic pro 6. Cheers J
