Well, do you really rate the number of releases as a symbol for quality? Highly questionable, if you ask me. >they also >seem to be up to date with thier testing and bug fixing for both platforms. What? Do you have the slightest idea of how long it took Steinberg to release a non-bug-ridden version of VST? And I'm not talking about the "usual" bugs and incompatibility issues but about major ones. You might further notice that they haven't done anything to the program in general since more then 3 years apart from adding audio things. Yes, some of those audio things, such as the VST format ARE revolutionary, so, thanks for that, but could you imagine working with a program that doesn't even reopen a song the way you saved it by means of organisation (you need to reorganize ALL your editors, mixers, plugins everytime)? Could you imagine having no add9 chord? Basically this for me was the reason to do the switch over as they have completely ignored all these wishes for years, instead they added new bugs in every (every!) version from 3.5 to 3.6r2 (the first actually working version). Took them 2.5 years. >of course i'll never know till i try, but fortunately i just found that >students and educators can purchase Cubase VST full and new for a mere $135 >from www.zzounds.com. that, my friends, is a steal. I have to agree on that, this looks like a good offer. They also even offer some Cubasis VST for 199 marks street price over here (around 100US$) and that's a nice offer, even seems to work more stable then the full version. As I've never tried Logic Silver I can't tell if it's perhaps comparable.
