Hello people, J Picard, other Mac users,
>As a mac user, I am spending an inordinate amount of time
>scanning thru large amounts of posts such as:
>"CPU error too slow"
>"how can I get my soundcard to work with ..."
J Picard indicates that discussion of audio / system problems are requiring
inordinate amounts of his precious time.
>These are all PC compatibility issues, which are of no usefulness to
>me or other mac users, or even pc users interested in using logic
>features.
This is an interesting perception. My objective count of posts by platform
displays the same pattern I have always observed.
This count of posts is for digests received at my location on 21 Dec NZ
time. I count problems mentioned, not side discussion, resulting humour, or
positive performance experiences. Just the basic number of problems
mentioned in the audio / system area.
PC audio / system problems:

Some might consider these numbers inordinate, but I count these as 4 Mac
problems and 4 PC problems. That's some but not very much to read, and very
quick to skip.
Anyone who believes these 5 digests containing 125 messages are not a
representative sample, may conduct their own rigorous counts and supply them
to the list.
>My understanding of the reason for the existence of this list is to
>discuss logic features, bugs, and creative ways to USE the
>software.
Excellent. Could you tell me which of these categories your post would be
classed in?
>If you have compatibility issues, call tech the support of either
>Emagic, or the company from whom you bought your soundcard/scsi
>card/memory/midi interface, etc.
That would be good, except this list seem to be a better tech support
resource than any other in the world.
>I really get the feeling that there are a large number of subscribers to
>this list that are using a hotline/or other -obtained crack of logic,
and
>cannot call emagic, so they post to this (free) resource.
Maybe a couple, but they get fairly short shrift here anyway.
>The fact of the matter is, is that pcs are generally not as stable as
>macs, but yet outnumber macs, on this list by many times.
If they outnumber Macs, which I could believe, why am I counting equal
numbers of Mac system / audio issues? What does that say about comparative
Mac reliability?
>Given that fact, most posts (and it certainly seems this way) are
>related to pc compatibility issues.
We seem to have disproved that.
>From the perspective of the mac users here, IMHO, the list should be
>split pc/mac so that we could get back to sharing information on
>logic's features/capabilities.
We voted against that, the admin doesn't want it, and perspective? You are
meant to be handing back your driver's licence.
And if the list were to be split, which it is not, a functional split makes
rather more sense than a platform split.
>It seems that most of those arguing against splitting are pc users
>who are used to being in the majority, and not used to having to
>wade through tons of posts daily that are meaningless to them.
Read the digest and use the Page Down key, or read the individual posts and
use the Delete shortcut key, or set up filters...
I understand there is a lot of traffic. I expect it is growing & will
continue to grow at an exponential rate.
I think your problems are caused by growth of the list, and blaming PC users
reflects badly upon you. It tends to cause disagreement and disrupts the
otherwise harmonious atmosphere.
Please take the time, probably comparable to that you spent writing your
divisive post, to set up some e-mail filters or automatic sorting into
folders or whatever.
