Subject: [LUG] How to open song while disabling audio engine?
Message #220808
There ought to be a way to open an .lso file without ANY of its instruments/samples loading, so I can copy midi objects from it and paste them into another song. I have two files, each takes a minute or two to load up (multiple instances of Kontakt/EXS/Ra/Spectrasonics etc.). If I want to go to another song and grab, say, a melody line 'object' on a sax track, I have to close this song, open the other, copy, close, open, paste. That's five minutes of beachball watching. Heaven forbid I try to open them both at the same time!?! There ought to be an option where I can, say, Command-Click another song and have its arrange window open up without any of the back-end stuff, just for grabbing from. Jeeez. I've been a die-hard Logic fan pretty much since notator days, but sometimes I wonder...

Not sure of a key command, but if you can open any song with minimal (or none) instruments/samples and disable core audio, all ensuing songs will load without samples. Be sure to enable core audio when it's all done. Doug

You can drag an .lso file from the desktop into a blank song and it will bring in the MIDI regions and nothing else. So as long as the original regions are properly identified, this should get you what you're looking for.

I've tried it every which way and I just get a single, empty object on the arrange. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks.
