HI group!
I've been using Battery 2 since it came out -- just got Battery 3 and
have had about a week to play with it. I can confirm everything
Sascha said about it and more -- the new library is great, but the
editing, effects and articulation capabilities make it not only a
drum sampler but a practical drum *synthesizer* - if the sound you
want isn't already in there, there are enough features in the editing
and effects panes to get it sounding really good.
Not only that -- you can search drums now not just on a file browser
in you own libraries, but through an included cell browsing feature
that allows you to search through all KICK drums while your sequence
is playing -- the menus are very intuitive, and already subdivided
into categories like "analog," "acoustic"
"electric" "hybrid" etc.
You can basically search through an audition every KICK from every
set in the included sample library. When you get to the sound you
want, you can save as a new kit. You can also create your own cells
and save in the Battery 3 cell format, making your own cells
browsable as well.
I use Logic, Ableton, and Battery, primarily...
Remember that feeling you had when you bought Logic Pro 7 for the
first time and said
"I can't believe all these sounds and capabilities come with
this"?
I had that reaction several times with the Battery 3 upgrade --
not only with the features, but the price is ridiculously low
for what it is capable of.
Geez -- I sound like a commercial,
but it's the truth -
combine it with the native effects and plugins of Logic Pro
and the possibilities are endless.
Highly recommended.
