Subject: Buying G4 dual vs. G5 Quad
Message #220611
Hello, this is my first post to the site. I'm a tv composer in LA, upgrading from a PowerBook G4 (believe it or not) on which I've been using Logic Pro to run a pretty typical score studio, to either a G5 dual or G5 Quad. I have three questions regarding this hardware upgrade: 1) has anyone had any bad experiences with the Quad? 2) does it have real advantages that justify the extra cost? 3) does anyone know of any places that have great deals on G5s? Looking forward to being a part of this forum.

I don¹t have a Quad, but from reading this list I am aware that Apple has finally enabled support for all 4 processors (apparently folks have been waiting quite a while) so this is a good thing. Presumably it is now demonstrably faster than the dual. Blair -- blairfisher@shaw.ca
