I'm editing a documentary with numerous problems on the sound track. They
are
1. noise from wind hitting the microphone during interviews conducted
outside.
2. background hiss, which might appear in one interview, but may be absent
in the next.
3. "scratching" sound from a lapel mic rubbing against clothing.
Which filters in logic pro can remove these, or is there a better way to go?
I will appreciate any help.
Thanks
DS

Hi David
For the wind noise you may want to look at a low High Pass Filter eq.
For The hiss, try a Low Pass Filter or perhaps even the de-esser.
For the scratching sounds I would suggest opening the Audio Edit Window
at the offending points, and either erasing or drawing out/down the
scratching peaks. They will be clearly shown. You may even want to
consider a noise gate for general background noise, although that may
sound unnatural. You could get real cute then and edit back in some
ambience from a sample base CD?
Cheers

hi there,
waves restoration bundle does work well for this stuff. the xnoise plug in
can be used to
remove hiss from location audio. i did that on a indie short film a week ago
and was pleased
with the results. in the end, you no longer hear the hiss and everything
sounds much
smoother.
some of the noises you mentioned are probably in there for good. low cut
applied in the right
places is always a help.
i don't have real experience with cedar, probably the best noise removal
software out there. it
might do more than the waves bundle, but at a price.
