Subject: [LUG] Hi - new here, gotta quesiton
Message #219563
Hi. I've got a couple of quick quesitons if anyone has this specific experience. I'm about to make the big step (DP to Logic), which for me involves a lot, let me explain: 1) I'm running a non Intel sloooooow Mac. My digital audio is firewire (MOTU 828), just got it. Just need the box. Trying to get through this deal as affordable as possible, so can anyone advise me if the new 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo Macmini would suffice a decent size session? I'm talking like..hmmm...16 ch. or less at the norm, possibly 24 channels every once and a while , some with plugins but not on of every channel. My specific concern is I use level automation a lot. This is paramount to my application. I'm sure it will run...but will it run stupidly driven by a Mac Mini 1.8 gig dual? I called Apple and they said it'll work just fine...but I'm thinking it best to get advise from a user, not just a tech rep who's possibly reading from a talk sheet on the subject. 2) Then there's the quesiton of RAM. Logic says it needs 512. The Mac Mini comes with 512...but it of course needs somne to run on outside of the currently loaded program. any help would be great, and i thank you all in advance. It would be best to send any offlist replies to peter@ear-group.net. - P Peter Grenader w: http://www.ear-group.net e: peter@ear-group.net p: 866 755-4468 (toll free)
