Subject: AW16G and Logic Express automation problem
Message #219514
Hello I'm a newbie to Logic Express (too embarassed to admit the version I've upgraded from!) and this group. I'm trying to use the physical mixer of my Yamaha AW16G as an external controller for LE's audio mixer. no problem with Sync and basic midi communcation but.. regardless of which fader I move on the AW it will only control the parameters of the Audio channel strip currently *selected* in LE, rather than AW fader 1 controlling LE fader 1; AW fader 4 controlling LE fader 4 etc. the manual has left me none the wiser any help resolving this appreciated. My understanding of the LE envrionment is rudimentary so please condense and simplify if possible. Thank you planethead Runnig Mac G5 1.8; tiger 10.4.??; CME UF8 via USB AW16G via midi-2-usb converter (1in 1out very basic)

Not possible. You have few faders on your controller and many faders in Logic. Logic does not know which channel strip you mean if you move one of your faders. You have to use a supported control surface or software like LC Xmu. The latter turns your controller virtually into a Logic Control with various bypass possibilities. I really don't know why Logic insists on control surfaces for volume and pan. They could be learnable by Controller assignments like the native plugins ... __ Peter Ostry
