Subject: [LUG] Possible to have a channel automatically write an alias to another channel?
Message #219507
Let me try to explain what I'm getting at here. I know, for example, if you arm one channel to record, and you activate the record button on a separate channel, you'll record the main MIDI data on the main channel and an alias of that data on the secondary channel that's armed to record. My question is whether it's possible to set up your environment so that every time you record to a specific channel, it will automatically write an alias to another channel. So for example, let's say I have an instrument called 'Horns' in my environment and another one called 'Horns for Exporting to Sibelius'. I want to know if it's possible to set up 'Violins' so that every time I write to it, it automatically makes an alias on 'Violins for Exporting to Sibelius'. (The goal would be to have a completely different score style for the second instrument--one that would be more appropriate towards exporting, for example.) Anyone know?

Add both those tracks to the same group, and enable "record" (and nothing else) in the group settings. So when you record-enable either track, the other will be record-enabled too, and you'll get your alias.
