Subject: [LUG] I want to buy an emagic MT-4 MIDI I/O but it get's bad reviews...
Message #219492
I already have a Unitor 8 Mk2 which is great. I also have a MOTU fastlane 2 in 2 out MIDI interface. I need this extra MIDI I/O because I switch the Unitor 8 into patchmode for sequencing my MIDI modules from my MPC60II's 4 outs. But I still need MIDI clock to the MPC for syncing and MIDI connection to my Logic Control. It has worked most of the time but the MOTU MIDI I/O doesn't always see my Logic Control. Whereas the Unitor 8 does. So I thought getting another little emagic MIDI I/O would be the answer. I need 2 ins and outs minmum. Will the emagic MT4 be sweet as. Roman.

Not quite sure what you are asking but I've had one for 3 years. 2 in 4 out. Set it up initially and haven't even thought about it since then. It has worked flawlessly. JP

I don't know where this person got their info from but the MT4 is not dependent on a unitor driver This is bad misleading info, I have been running the same device with up to the full 6 midi ports plugged in on the latest OS for mac Check all avenues before making a decision. What are people supposed to do with their MT4. Surely a MIDI driver is no big deal. What emagic compatible alternatives are there, seeing as I am replacing a MOTU Fastlane I am using because it doesn't always let Logic recognise my Logic control. Sounds f@#*ed up.

In fact I've never had a problem with the MT4 at all. Cheers Tom

Thanks guys - I'll pass this on to my friend - I'm sure he'll be very glad to've been wrong! And sorry for inadvertently passing on incorrect info. :-( Cheers, Bill

Hmm. I run MT4 and serial Unitor via a stealth port in OS X .4.7 and all is well. I think your friend is confused.
