Subject: [LUG] Two Amt-8's - crashing 'Unitor 8 Control' in OS-X; beat clock In issues
Message #219463
Hello All, My first post - I'd appreciate any help on this matter. I'm trying to set up one port of two linked amt-8 interfaces to accept MIDI Beat Clock from a Korg Triton (i.e. the Triton is beat clock master). Typically these linked interfaces have worked fine in AudioMIDI setup and in general use. I'm using either Logic 7.1 or DP 4.61, but I can't use either, as it seems that the interfaces will simply not recognize beat clock (as the sequencer then does not receive the clock). The OSX MIDI monitor application confirms that these interfaces won't recognize the Triton beat clock (while MIDI monitor shows that either a MIDIMAN 8x8 or MOTU 4x6 will see the Triton's beat clock just fine). There's plenty of LED activity on the amt-8 on that IN port...and it blinks less when I slow down the tempo on the Triton. I have read that only –one- of the amt-8 ports can accept MIDI beat clock, so to attempt to set this up I tried to launch Unitor 8 Control v3.2 in OSX 10.4.7 on a G5 dual 2.3G and it crashes all the time (hangs up on `trying to communicate' and/or gives an error dialog). I loaded all of the latest Emagic/Apple drivers, to no avail. So using a 500Mhz TiBook w/ dual booting OS9.1, I loaded Unitor 8 Control v3.04, and it launched fine and amazingly recognized the two amt-8's immediately. Unfortunately, all of the Unitor 8 Control software features don't immediately clue me in on how to set just one port to accept Beat Clock. I tried the various filter (e.g. real time, active sensing, sys-ex, etc.) option combinations in the software for the 8x8 grid of the port I/O's, but still no luck with beat clock showing up. I found some old forum posts (2002) on this same topic but it seems like the Logic tech support guys never answered ("we'll get back to you later") or a follow-on solution was not identified. Thanks, -Brian
