Little known fact: Quantizing in Logic occurs in relation to the
start of the region, not the absolute grid. Most of the time,
regions begin and end on sub-divisions or beats, so it usually isn't
a problem, but can be if for some reason your MIDI region has an odd
start time in relation to the gird of the song.
If you are quantizing within a MIDI editor, you can use the Q-tool or
the Q-pop-up to quantize selection - but click and hold -- rather
than quick-click -- to choose the desired grid. If you choose a
grid from the Q-pop-up once, it will remember this and you can quick-
click after that.
You should check out the Extended Parameters window - you can
quantize all note events within a region non-destructively this way
with great precision.
Because all quantizing is non-destructive (operates on a ghost copy),
you can de-quantize any note or notes that are quantized with either
method. OR, you can quantize selected notes with a different
grid . . . .
