Run the AU manager and click on the button "Remove Entry" in the
lines which show the plugins which are no longer here.
I think "reset and rescan all" will work too but I have never
tried
that.

hi,
Thanks for the advice. I tried that but the failed
plugins still show in the audio unit manager. I want
to get rid of all the failed plugins from even showing
up in the plugin manager, so keep the ideas coming!
thanks,
Arthur

Hi Arthur,
It sounds like you still have the plugin(s) in the 'component' folder(s),
you may have
deleted the folder or icon in the apps folder but all (AU) plugins come with
an AU
component that is hidden deep in the library folder. One folder is in
library/audio/plugins/
components and the other is in ~users/library/audio/plugins/components. If
you move
the offender from the folder and put it on the desktop (or throw it away) it
shouldn't
appear when you get logic to rescan for plugins. The reason for the two
folders is that one
is for all users on that computer (in the main library) and one is just for
a specific user (the
user based library). check both and i'm sure you'll find what you're looking
for!
