Subject: How to silence a track at a certain time?
Message #214972
Hi, I have a part in a track that has a 5 second part of guitar that uses a tape delay and goes out of controll, which i want to happen. After which i want another track to kick in and play something. The other track plays, but the delay track goes on and on and on..., i cant figure out a way to top the delay from looping, all i want to do is completely silence the track at a certain point. How can i accomplish this? Thanks.

If you don't want to delete the track at a certain time (silly joke, I know) then use automation. You can: mute the track, bring the volume down more or less fast, bypass the tape delay, control one or more delay parameters. Just a suggestion: I would reduce the feedback of the delay for a tiny amount to tame it a bit and go simultaneously down with the volume. That can happen quite fast if you draw steep lines or curves in the automation. Of course, if you want a sudden cut you might prefer to simply mute the track. ___ Peter Ostry ----------------------------------------------------------------- LUG Group Buy for Serato's Pitch n' Time LE until June 14th! How can i accomplish this? Automation would certainly achieve what you want, but for a really crisp effect, another easy way would be to solo the track, select a range and Bounce To Disk. Then you could import the bounced file, place it exactly in place of the original guitar and cut it off at the appropriate moment. This eliminates the possibility that the out-of-control tape delay is still looping feedback when you re-automate the track level back up. You probably want to automate the mute, but maybe the volume if you don't want it to be so immediate. f-erenc szabo, smarty pants Z+E+R+O+B+E+A+T "NOW POWERED BY THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSISTOR!" <http://home.goodmedia.com/~zerobeat> ----------------------------------------------------------------- LUG Group Buy for Serato's Pitch n' Time LE until June 14th!
