Hi group:
Mac G5 OS 10, Logic Pro 7.1, MOTU Traveler, ADAT
I tracked a sesson at a bud's house on ADAT. I wanted to bring the tracks
into Logic to mix.I borrowed an ADAT machine and thought I could bring them
in by using the LightPipe out of the ADAT into the optical in of the
Traveler. Problem is that no matter what settings I use, I get no signal
into Logic. I can see the signal in the MOTU CueMix console so I'm
definately getting signal into the Traveler. I can hear signal out of the
analog outs. I can plug a mic into the MOTU and get signal into Logic no
problem.
I can see the ADAT In LED light up on the Traveler however the out LED never
does.
Anybody have a clue because I obviously dont.
Thanks

Hi, make sure you have an input object set to the correct input
channel for the adat output from motu - it's 8-16 on my 2408 mk3 -
you may need to create a suitable input object - or change a current
one. Meke sure the adat is enabled in the motu console (sounds like
it is). Set an audio track's input to the same channel as the new
input and it should work.

Two things....
(btw, I just did ther exact same thing using an ADAT but with CubaseSX3 and
RME hardware.
First,
The Traveler has to lock to the ADATs digital clock.
Possibly set in the MOTO cuemix software.
Did you record at 48 or 44.1?
Lock the Traveler to the ADAT input clocl.
Second,
(I think it's still this way) Logic has to be told the sync/clock source.
So in the Audio setup section set sync to external or whatever will get
you input from the ADAT.

I would like to thank Howard and Steve for their help with this problem. I
spent the last 4 days in computer hell trying to figure this out.
Unfortunately while their suggestions were helpful it really wasn't the
problem. I am posting this this in the hopes it may help some one else. The
Traveler is sending out the audio into Logic on a different bank. I assumed
that if I had an ADAT with 8 tracks that I should set up Logic to receive on
tracks 1-8. No, no, no. The signal comes into Logic on tracks 15 -22. Who
would have thunk? I have to credit my bud Tom Hammer for the insight.
Hopefully if a nother person has this problem they won't waste as much time
on it as I have. Live and learn!

Should have known... all of the MOTU audio interface hardware uses
a similar (oddball) numbering scheme for the inputs.
Not exactly the same scenario but missing MOTU inputs have
popped up here (LUG) before.

Thank you!
I had the same problem tryin´to connect the ADAT to my M-audio 1814.
Thanks to you I solved it, ADAT ch 1 appeared at Logic express ch 9. But
then Locic tells me I only have 12 input channels. So I still can´t
record ADAT ch 5-9. According to the Logic reference the number of inputs
depends on the audio hardware... Do you have any idea of how to solve this.
I wuold be most grateful.

Bo, I think this is a limitation of Express, I've seen it mentioned
on this list [LUG] before.
Hopefully there's a solution but if not...
Did the Traveler come with any audio recording software?
If so, load that and record/transfer your ADAT tracks and then
move them over to Logic.
If you can get a copy of CubaseLE OEM (a freebie with several
products) you can use that as well.
