Subject: UNITOR 8 MKII "disappears"
Message #208940
Hey all - here's a strange set of problems that has suddenly begun on my system (dual G4 1.25, OSX 10.39, LAP7.1) Since my many, many emails to Apple went un-answered (very lame CS they have!) I wonder if any of you might have experienced same or similar issues. These did not occur prior to my upgrading from LAP 6.4 PRO to LAP 7.1 1) the UNITOR 8 MKIIs (I use three) suddenly disappear and no more MIDI is transmitted. I have to turn them off, quit LAP and then, re-boot again after turning the UNITORS back on. Sometimes I even have to re-boot the system. 2) when loading a song random MIDI objects in the env. are misteriously selected (as though I had clicked on them). 3) When using FF/RWD or GOTO marker (with CATCH ON) the cursor gets lost (it doesn't catch). Any of you experienced any of the above? If you have or if you might have some idea regarding those issues I'd really appreciate your input. THX!

If it does and you dont need it, trash it! That cured my problems. Very Best Steve.

>>Do you still have OS9 on your G4?<< Yes, I had two drives with the two systems on them. However, the system worked fine prior to upgrading to LAP7, in either OS9 or OSX. >>If so does that system have a Unitor midi driver installed? If it does and you dont need it, trash it!<< Yes, I do have the drivers installed. I still have to keep LAP 6.4 and OS9 because my clients' stuff is done with that combo. Eventually, I'll be able to phase it all out and work only in OSX with LAP 7. I am a bit weary of using ONLY LAP7 in OSX though as the other bugs haven't been resolved by the (non-existant) Apple tech support.

You could always disable the driver in OS 9 Extensions manager, just enable it when you need it! I am not saying this is your problem just that, thats what cured my system of a very similar issue. Good Luck, Steve.

Right, good Idea. I'll do that and see what happens. I guess one possiblity could also be the UNITOR going bad but, I wouldn't bet on it. Thx again! GP
