Subject: [LUG] System Overload Problem...
Message #205642
GEAR -Logic 7.11 -g4 dual 1.25 -1.5 gig ram -2408 mk111 Panther 10.3.9 I am working on a song with the following characteristics - About 8 EXS audio instruments ( normal - nothing extraordinarily large with them) - 1 BFD DRUM SET - 1 STYLUS RMX - 2 space designers - nothing else is being used with this song - - - The problem: sometimes when I hit play - after a few beats - I get the error: - error: core audio: system overload. The audio engine was not able to process all required data in time. -10011. - if I start and stop a few more times generally the error will go away - the audio and disk CPU indicators are barely been used.... Question: what is going on here? How can I fix this? -- Thanks - RevDave CoolCat@hosting4days.com [db-lists] _________________________________________________________________ * Logic Users Group (LUG) - http://logic-users.org - new forums! **** SFX Machine RT Group Buy until November 30th! **** Details at http://logic-users.org/groupbuy/sfxmachine * Search the LUG: http://logic-users.org/forums/LUG/search * Logic FAQ: http://logicfaq.omega-art.com/ * List Policy: http://logic-users.org/forums/LUG/policy -----------------------------------------------------------------

The BFD and Stylus RMX would be the first. The Space designers are the problem, I think. You can fix it by getting a G5. Though it happens to me on a G5 here and there with no real load on the computer. I'm just living with it and waiting for the fix. I haven't been able to identify what's causing the problem for sure. Howver, I've found that if a disable my virtual instruments and re activate them, everything starts working fine. Also, check your I/o buffer size. I've found that 128 works great for me but 64mb results in clicks and pops in my audio when I'm working with virtual instruments. _________________________________________________________________ * Logic Users Group (LUG) - http://logic-users.org - new forums! **** SFX Machine RT Group Buy until November 30th! **** Details at http://logic-users.org/groupbuy/sfxmachine * Search the LUG: http://logic-users.org/forums/LUG/search * Logic FAQ: http://logicfaq.omega-art.com/ * List Policy: http://logic-users.org/forums/LUG/policy -----------------------------------------------------------------

I regularly get those with BFD and Logic. -Dave Reid _________________________________________________________________ * Logic Users Group (LUG) - http://logic-users.org - new forums! **** SFX Machine RT Group Buy until November 30th! **** Details at http://logic-users.org/groupbuy/sfxmachine * Search the LUG: http://logic-users.org/forums/LUG/search * Logic FAQ: http://logicfaq.omega-art.com/ * List Policy: http://logic-users.org/forums/LUG/policy -----------------------------------------------------------------

You could try unticking the "put hard disk to sleep >> whenever possible" option in system preferences >> steve rose > Well: I have a similar problem with my PowerMac G5 2x1.8 Ghz (equipped with 1,25 GB of main memory and a total of 4 memory slot) I´ve open the Activity monitor utility, and selected the memory activity. When I open my current logic project the free memory was about 12-15 MB and the page in/out indicator shows very high values so I´ve deducted than the problem was than I need more memory. For test I change all the Kontakt 2 and EXS instances for another sof synths (I've tried with Absynth adn ES2), and the computer run without problems. I`ve buyed 2 GB of memory and tjhe problem seem solved (well I canoot text extensively due than 1 SIMM memory was bad, and the computer crashed when I´ve loaded the logic project, but I´ve turned out the computer, and when I´ve restarted, the computer only recognized 2 GB (the total amount is really 3 GB), but then computer runs well, and the logic run fine with my current project; I´m going to replace the defective SIMM) I dont know if this is your case but you can check. Regards. _________________________________________________________________ * Logic Users Group (LUG) - http://logic-users.org - new forums! **** SFX Machine RT Group Buy until November 30th! **** Details at http://logic-users.org/groupbuy/sfxmachine * Search the LUG: http://logic-users.org/forums/LUG/search * Logic FAQ: http://logicfaq.omega-art.com/ * List Policy: http://logic-users.org/forums/LUG/policy -----------------------------------------------------------------
