Subject: [LUG] need presentation/demo advice
Message #202587
in the next week or so, I am interviewing for a position as a creative demo presentation rep in one of the Apple retail outlets....I would be doing demos of Logic, Garageband, etc.... one of the requirements and part of the interview process is to compile a 5 minute demo of a project you've done with an Apple app...I've got a 30 second clip of a project I've done in Logic Pro 7 using a couple of Sculpture tracks, and EVP 88 track, a live drum track, and a couple of tracks with Apple loops...all the FX are the built in Logic FX... the problem is, the demo computer will only be loaded with Logic Express and GarageBand....it looks like I am going to have to bounce all my tracks down and load them into Logic Express.....do I bounce to 16 or 24 bit?? AIFF or Wave....?? should I copy my project off a CD to the hard drive or can I simply run my project off the CD?? I'm trying to make this as simple as possible, since I only have a 5 minute time limit....has anyone else been in this position or have an advice on how to make this work?? thanks Lee K

No particular advice on the interview I'm afraid, but as for your specific questions.... I don't think that fidelity can be too important if they are forcing you to use Express rather than Pro so I imagine 16 bit should be fine - worth pointing out you've decided to use that to keep disk space down. As long as you know why you've done something it'll be difficult to argue with it. AIFF or WAV? Nobody should care really. You could argue that AIFF is the original Mac format so use that, though I would say that WAV far more commonly used so that should be your choice. CD or hard drive? HARD DRIVE. Definitely. Never try to run a session off of CD, it's likely to cause you problems since it may not be able to read the data quick enough. Since you've only got 5 minutes the 16 bit resolution will only serve to help with the copy time. Do you have Express? I presume not if you're writing in Pro. It would be very, very wise to find some one with it to test it out before you go. Never leave anything to chance in this game. It will always go wrong! Best of luck! James.
