Why is logic using more than what i have shown in the arrange page when
crossfading between regions.
Example: Region A is 8 bars long but I'm only using 4 bars worth and
crossfading into region B. The problem is that I'm clearly hearing the
downbeat
of bar 5 of region A! I don't want to hear that I JUST WANT TO CROSSFADE
BETWEEN THE REGIONS I HAVE SHOWING ON THE ARRANGE PAGE. Why is logic using
audio I don't have selected? Even in the audio page, the S and E points are
correct. But logic is using audio from the original full region that i do
not
want used. I don't rememeber this happening in logic 6. what am I
missing???
thanks a million,

How long is your crossfade? By definition, a crossfade involves
fading in the material from the second region a little before the
center and tapering out the material from the first region a little
after. Unless your crossfade is only a few milliseconds long, you
will hear the downbeat of bar 5 as it fades out.

Adjust the cross fade length until it sounds good to you.

This is the entire premise of a crossfade. If it didn't use up
audio that is beyond (before and after) the visual boundaries
that separate the two regions, it wouldn't be a crossfade in the
first place.
The corollary to this is that if there ISN'T any audio before
and after the boundaries, then you can't have a proper crossfade.
I encounter folks all the time who wonder why they're still
getting clicks/pops at the boundary even though they've established
a crossfade (because there isn't anything to crossfade to and/or from).
ProTools gives a nice warning message when trying to crossfade
two regions that don't have sufficient audio before/after the boundary.

Adjust the crossfade time (less in your case) to suit you.
