Subject: [OT] : Rights for Riffs
Message #187892
<Admin - please reply privately, or to the OT list, thanks> This is not immediately relavent to Logic, but I imagine this situation is relevant to many here. Suppose you are producing/recording someone else's song. They come in with a bare bones tune and guitar chords. You add the drums, bass line that really moves it along, counter melodies and strings. It comes alive and is great now. Of course, the songwriter desserves full credit for what they wrote. But I contributed creatively also. The riffs and melodies add a lot to the song and are musical ideas. What if he sells the song, then someone picks it up and then arranges it similarly using my material? Should I copyright just what I wrote separately? Or ask the songwriter for a contract that if someone uses the arrangement they need to fork over 10%? Has anyone experienced this?

Message #187909
This is a reply to #187892.
Hi everyone, I'd like to know if anyone have tried or use any kind of firewire extenders/active hubs that have worked with dig002 rack. I need to put my Mac G4 on my Machine Room but I'd like to have the Digi002 Rack on the main Room where I work!!! Its about 20/25 meters length. Does anyone have tried or use any kind of firewire extender/active hub that could direction to buy it!? Digidesign Answer Database has this issue. DAE Error 728 when launching Pro Tools LE 6.4 If the 002/002R is connected to the computer via a firewire hub or other firewire device, try connecting the 002/002R directly to the firewire port on the computer. But it could work with a active firewire hub or extender.... Thanks to everyone M. Bernardo Ps: sorry about my English...
