Subject: Apple Loops - saving new ones for future access
Message #187876
I have Logic Pro 7 and am running Panther 10.3.8 with an 828mkII [running great, BTW] Question: I have several audio loop CD's that I want to convert into Apple loops. The instructions in the Logic 7 manual [lovely tome that it is] worked well, and I was able to edit the audio track I imported to become an apple loop. Now I want to save these files and have them show up in the Loop Browser for use in future songs. However, when I saved the file into my Garageband loops folder (as well as several other possible locations) I couldn't get it to show up in my loop browser found within LP7 or the loop browser in GBand. I see several text files on my machine labeled "Apple Loop index". I'm wondering if the new loops I've created are not showing up in the loop browser because they haven't been indexed. Any thoughts?

You are perfectly right! Index your new Apple Loops by dragging them in Finder with the mouse pointer and drop them on rectangle at the lower part of Logic's loop browser. The manual says you can also drop entire maps there to have their content indexed, but I found it safer to just drop a bunch of loops. Drag and drop the loops onto the Apple loops browser. Not the regions in the arrange window, you need to drag the actual files from the folder they are in onto the Loop browser. You will be prompted to copy the loops or just index them from their current location, which need not be in the GB loops folder. -- Pete Thomas www.petethomas.co.uk - Free Logic Icons, Environments and EXS Instruments

Now my Gota Yashiki "Groove Activator" loops can live a new life as Apple Loops.
