Subject: Apple Loop folders
Message #185793
Hey hi, Is there any 'elegant' way to create folders within the Apple Loop browser so that I could keep my loops within a collection. It's easier for me to browse when I know what CD the loops are from. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks, Judith Gruber-Stitzer film composer Montreal

Apple had announced that Logic will eventually get the GarageBand2 functions in a subsequent update (no date has been announced). Each AppleLoop collection shows up in a menu in the GB2 LoopBrowser. You can select "All" (what Logic7 does all the time) or any of the listed collections. And then all your subsequent sorts/finds will be limited to just that collection. Excellent, but there's still no way of just showing a big long list of everything in that collection (and if it did, it ought to be sorted by the folder hierarchy you've created in the collection's folder). It seems Apple did the entire browser thing bass ackwards. The FIRST method implemented should have been by folder hierarchy. And then the entire mood/style/key/genre thing should have been implemented. But remember, you can STILL go into the Finder, preview the AppleLoops (depending on your CoreAudio driver) and then drag and drop them into Logic's Arrange. Or just import them the same way any old audio file is handled (Audio Window, Arrange, Project Manager). They're just audio files with some extra AppleLoop info inside. f-erenc szabo, smarty pants Z+E+R+O+B+E+A+T "NOW POWERED BY THE MIRACLE OF THE TRANSISTOR!" <http://home.goodmedia.com/~zerobeat>

I wrote the CD name to Comments field In Sountrack Loop Utility and was surprised that in Apple Loop browser in Logic, the search showed nothing when I wrote that name onto search field ? I hope that these tools get much more integrated in future versions and with better functionality. Cheers Check out the web page for my band updated 12.12.2004 .
